Came with black switches, but they're a bit heavy, might give browns a try instead(which is what I wanted in the first place.)

How is that box porn?  It's just a photograph of a random box, and the contents are not even what the writing on the box alludes to.  Should post photos of what's inside instead, as imagine what this thread will be like if everyone just posts their incoming packages in boxes and bubble envelopes.

Got my white Filco with blues today. Going to mod it to ergo clears and put so thick PBT caps on it soon.

Since it's new, it feels heavier and scratchier than my previous blue board (Das III), but I think the lubed ergo clears should remedy that :thumb:

Yeah I'm interested in trying blues as well, I just can't afford to get both just to try them out at the moment...
Further along the line I might convert this cherry to a dedicated typer with blues and have a tenkeyless for gaming. Maybe. :D

Blues aren't for everyone, just make sure you aren't spending money on something you won't use. If you're going to spend the time to convert your keyboard, you might as well try ergo clears  ;)

Two packages today.

In the first:

Hack Orange MX

The_Beast switch tool

I just took some switches apart with this thing, and holy **** does it blow my binder clip tool out of the water!

Mystery gifts!!!

In the second:

100 Cherry MX White switches

Honestly, I'm a little disappointed with these :(. Out of 100, only 46 click consistently. More than half of them have a dampened or nonexistent click. I knew when buying these that the defect rate of whites was significantly higher than the other switches, but I was assuming it was somewhere in the single-digit percent range… not more than half! I don't want to derail this thread by asking questions here, but I'll definitely be posting in the Q&A thread for others' experiences.

Edit: I've since learned that the 46 switches with a distinct click are the "defects," and that the dampened click ones are what whites should sound like. That leaves me with basically the same numbers, but in a better mood because the harder-clicking ones might be fixed with lube.

You should definitely grab one. If you don't mind a lil' wearing out of the legends over time, this keyboard will make you happy. I typing experience is heavenly. Only other draw back other than the legends is the 1.25x mods on the bottom and smaller right shift. I, however, believe the feel overcomes those draw backs.

What size spacebar is it? It is made out of ABS so those replacement ones on EK would be nice, right? :thumb:

White switch is supposed to have dampened click, if it clicks like a blue that is defect not the others.

I got my leeku 1800 PCB. Now... to decide if want to hassle with SMD diode+led for backlight or hassle of bending 101 through hole diode for inside switch...

Today I received a WASD V2 87 barebones.  I put my Tai Haos from Keypop on it and it's quite nice.  A bit of a let down as I was expecting Cherry doubleshots to be uber thick - but in reality my set is about as thick.

I'll give the Tai Haos a good long month of typing before Ivan's mini gmk gb space bar comes through and then type a month on Cherry keycaps before forming an official opinion.

Based on a couple hours of typing - I'd say don't get bent out of shape if you can't afford GMK's - even if cost wasn't a consideration the Tai Hao's are pretty damn nice.

I really like the white gasmask, Hendy! I theoretically have one on its way, but it's untracked and has already been 2 weeks, which is quite a bit longer than CONUS shipping usually takes :(. Ah, well.

Goodies from jcrouse mega sale:

And a 4x4 key switch matrix.  Basically a plate with almost-Cherry switches on it.  Although the switches have a + stem, Cherry MX keycaps are a slightly tighter than normal fit.  The keycaps that came with it are relegendable, but the bit underneath is just a bit thicker than MX keycaps and they do not fit on standard MX switches.  FWIW MX switches are a drop-in replacement for the switches that came with the board.

"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada
