Got the SSK and realforce both today and ... I don't like the realforce.  It's too light and feels numb to me.  I'll type a little more on it tonight and into the weekend, but if there's no objection, I'm probably going to just resell it for what I paid.

The ssk is baller, though

Unless you just need the money right now, you should hold onto the RF and give it a chance. Type on it exclusively for a week. If you still don't like it, then surely sell it. But I find if I don't give new switches enough time before I decide I don't like them and sell them, I end up regretting it later.

Very nice SSK. Did you rebuild it/bolt mod it yourself? Mine seems to have just a couple broken rivets.

I'm about 93% certain that I'm not going to change my mind about this RF.  This is the SSK that was up for auction for charity, aka- the reason my name is in the news scroll for the site.  I think Kawa did all the heavy labor.  I absolutely love it and have no regrets on the purchase price.  The CC is nice, the keys are nice, I love the sound, this almost makes me not worry about getting a board with mx clears.

Nice otaku caps on your new SSK. Is the CC a glued one like the recent Hack Orange ones?

Thanks and it is.  I like it a little more than the Hack Orange, too, if I'm honest.

Also I would hold on to that RF a bit to give it a chance.  Although, I fell in love with mine immediately.  It's the one board that I wouldn't let go.

Do you like reds?  or even browns?  That really light touch is something that I have come to rely on.  It's like you can stay in the zone for so long and just fly over the keys.  That's the best way I can describe the "cloud of boobies" effect.  My RF is even lighter (variable) than yours and I fell right in with it like I was coming home.

I'm somewhat the same. My first RF was a 10th anniv 55g. I traded it and then got another one within a month. I'm not a hardcore like some around here but the Topre's feel awesome to me. At least the 55g. I have never tried a 45g nor variable.

Red.  With my current Lego obsession ressurected, I'm thinking about buying some red/yellow/blue/black keys to make something vaguely Lego-ish for this.  Looking at this board, it just screams Lego strong to me.
I've also had a weird idea to see how a Lego would feel like to type on and if I could make a Lego look-a-like keycap.

Also I would hold on to that RF a bit to give it a chance.  Although, I fell in love with mine immediately.  It's the one board that I wouldn't let go.

I prefer my black board to my reds, but even my reds feel better than this RF currently. It's not like I couldn't move this anytime I want, so I should give it more time and not immediately after my love session with my ssk, but I'm not blown away so far.

[...] I love the sound, this almost makes me not worry about getting a board with mx clears.

Originally, I had planned on buying a Unicomp for my first mech keyboard, I just happened to stumble on the 30% code that carter had put out right when I bought my first keyboard.  I'm glad I waited, because I've got to try things I probably wouldn't have otherwise and wouldn't have bought this specific board either, but this is totally the daily driver board for me.

glad you like it tj ;) unicomp can offer quite a bit of customization for blank caps because of the uniform profile, so you might want to add a bit of color to the blanks while you wait for their new dyesub process to be debugged. :)

are customs in Australia nicking them?

I received an order from techkeys recently - business card intact.  Customs would really have had to shred the package to get it out.  Maybe just the ones up in Qld...

But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

i want to know how i have like 6 boxes from techkeys now and not 1 bloody card!

are customs in Australia nicking them?

I received an order from techkeys recently - business card intact.  Customs would really have had to shred the package to get it out.  Maybe just the ones up in Qld...

I've received cards in both my packages from Techkeys. (NSW here)
KBC Poker - Red switches. Noppoo Choc Mini - Black switches. Leopold FC700R (White) - Blue switches. Ducky YOTD - Brown switches. Razer BW - Blue switches and rusted.

Won an online auction for a lot of stuff for 9 SEK total, which is approx 1 Euro or $1.25 USD. Picked it up in person. Threw away two bad rubber domes and a mouse. Left with a Key Tronic rubber dome (not ErgoForce unfortunately), a BTC rubber dome and a Dah Yang C-161.

The Dah Yang keyboard had real Cherry MX Blacks, but was the filthiest I have seen. It is like the keyboard had been soaked in dirt and grime. A mound of dirt fell out onto the bathroom floor when I took it apart. Some of the poor little switches squeeked when I pressed their keys and I don't know if I will be able to salvage the little buggers...  :'(
I would have to desolder, disassemble, clean and lube each one and I don't know if that would be worth it.

I will definitely save BTC key caps and I had been looking for some plate-mounted Cherry stabilizers, so it was not a bad haul the price. Will spend more on denture cleaning tabs, next.

jil_jil32, what caps are those and how did you get that bottom row custom made? Especially the short blue space bar.

Got this yesterday but forgot to post about it - mmmty's ergo-clear Cherry board. Alphanums/modifiers and numpad keys have the clear stems, and those keycaps appear to be doubleshots. POS keys are blues, but I'm not sure what those keycaps are made of, besides Esc which has a red on white GH doubleshot. Print Screen/Scroll Lock/Pause have clear caps with green/blue/red switches. Very cool board!

Kitchen towel as a wrist rest until I get skryl's in the mail in a couple of days.
