we also forgot to schedule the prototype pack separately, so lump the prototype pack (with the spacebars) in with the premium pack items :)

I just thought of this, and does this mean....blue geekhack.org spacebar?!?

I think it either means there's now 10 premium packs vs 9 original, or the premium was split between the 9 original.

I can't believe one of the premiums was still available for me - I totally forgot until I saw activity in the other thread. That R3 set will certainly make someone happy. Good luck everyone.

Just received my geekhack pack in the mail (gotta lead by example!)...

If you love GH and haven't yet purchased one...SHAME ON YOU!  (yes, I am not beyond using guilt)  :)

Seriously, this is a unique offering and, as mkawa stated, when they are gone...THEY ARE GONE!

Final push guys!!!  We really need to get these sold.

They make great stocking stuffers. And what better way to say "I love you", then a gift of a techkeys geekhack pack?  ;)

Two days left and I would really love to see these sell out.  Just bought another pack myself!

That was one of the geekhack keys offered back when I ran the monthly group buy.  You don't see those around much as they were only offered once.

a quick question, it is said on Techkeys' site that the pack is :

Quote
TechKeys Pack Includes

    All Base Package Items
    Techkeys HOLOGRAM Card
At least 1 TechKeys Key (Past, Present, or Future)

and it is said that the gold pack as a gold card, does it means both are included in the pack,or just one? I didn't order mine yet, and I'ld like to have the gold, but already having the gold card, I'ld like to get the hologram card instead :P

can someone help me out?

I like the idea of supporting GeekHack and I'm happy with my pack,

But what I like less is that we have absolutely no idea about why you need that much money, how much you already collected (a lot according to what happens in the classified section), what did you buy with that money,  what still needs to be done...
I mean you could very well go to Mexico with the collected money and nobody would know!

If this is a collective effort then you have to set goals and give updates imho.
I would probably give more in that case.

we are buying server hardware to maintain the security, robustness and performance of geekhack.org.

we don't divulge exactly what we are buying or what we are running on it for security reasons (we have been thoroughly owned before, and don't wish to repeat that saga)

frankly, the money we have collected is pretty piddly. to date (prior to geekhack pack revenue), we had collected 1650$ from the beginning of time (or when geekhack started taking donations, whichever came first ;). frankly, staff have already donated 2x directly in hardware than 1650$ can buy.

i will say this. we have an unusual hosting platform, we require a high degree of redundancy, but our monthly costs are much lower than your average site. for reference, a site of our size and traffic typically costs 500-1000$ per month to run in bandwidth and hosting fees.

I have no doubts running this website requires money,

what I'm saying is that if we knew how you use the money (without going into deep details like exact hardware references ...) it would make things clear and transparent.

Anyway that's just my 2 cents!

this money is going to go to buy at least one beefy modern services box that will do the heavyweight back-end services processing. at the moment, we're regularly overloading our poor little million year old amd box, and i haven't even started writing my principled but horribly inefficient php to implement the millions of features and bug-fixes on the to-do list yet.

the new hardware will allow me to start refactoring and adding to the geekhack codebase so that we can offer you a better user and vendor experience, and as always, completely for free without ads.
