GHPad. It's not ready yet, but there will be a group buy once the PCB is tested and finished.

I am looking for a seperate numbpad with cherry mx blue switches that visually fits a poker. I really like the  Leopold FC 210TP  but the top row seems out of place. Is there a numbpad like the one i am looking for?

What do you mean by "visually fits"? Layouts look similar? Same color? Same profile?

The numblock has one row "too much" to fit with a keyboard that has no dedicated F key row
The overall design is great... just to many rows.

I know the difference between PCB and Plate mounted switches.  Basically the PCB mounted ones have extra plastic tabs that hold the switch to the PCB.  If a PCB has the holes for PCB mounted switches, you can use them with or without a plate.

I am wondering if the same thing is true for PCB vs Plate mounted stabilizers?  Is it exactly the same principle or is there any other reason why you could not use a PCB mount stabilizer with a plate?

You can use a PCB mounted stabilizers on a plate mounted board; it just needs receiving holes in the PCB for the legs. Just can't use a plate mounted stabilizer on a PCB stabilizer mount only PCB.

My KMAC has Cherry PCB stabilizers on a plate.

Thank you.  So does Coster do pcb mounted stabs or are they all plate mounted?

Still looking for one as well.  Pacifist, you beat me by like 2 mins on the last one that went up.  :)  Not sure that the binder clip is 'just as good' because you can mangle a switch pretty good with one of those things.  But...  They do work...

You can mangle a switch with a bad Beast switch tool too. If made and used properly, either will work great and won't mess up the tops.  I've never had a problem with my binder switch tool.  The only problematic switch tops are the replacement tops and Beast's tool has a hard time with those too.

I've ordered a kb from EK via USPS and I have a question. Tracking says it's been cleared on our customs here, so it should arrive fairly shortly. I'm not home a lot, however, so I'm wondering how will they deliver the keyboard to me? Do they just send it back to USA if I'm not at home or leave it at local post office or what do they do with the package in such a case?

I'm from Slovenia and we obviously have no USPS offices here.

Some speculation:

USPS won't be the ones ultimately delivering the keyboard to you; they're working with a local delivery service. In the event that you're not home, they might reattempt delivery or your keyboard will hang out at the offices of the local service for some set number of days before being transferred back into USPS's possession.

Does anyone have any tips for removing shift keys on a G80-3000 (clears)? I just got an RGBY set in the post and I just can't get my two shift keys off with my keypuller. It isn't one of the wire ones, its the standard two prong plastic one that comes with a QFR. I've never had trouble removing the shift keys from another board but I guess it doesn't help that they are clears..

clears can be tricky they seem to not want to let go.....and your also dealing with a PCB Mount board so if you pull too hard you might just pull the switch apart.

my suggestion is to get a wire puller but tread lightly

Eh plastic keypullers... Try pushing down carefully the stabilizers with a screwdriver or something similar, they like to break when you are pulling to hard on them. Pull on the end on which you are pushing down the stabilizer and if you could get it to move a bit on one side, do the same on the other side. Rinse and repeat.

I know this is not a 'simple question' but I don't want to start a new topic for a question that will probably have like two answers.

Which internal components will get the hottest on a keyboard?  I touched the chip on a usb hub once while it was plugged in and almost burnt my finger.  It was much hotter than I was expecting (obviously, or I wouldn't have touched it.  haha).  Will the controller be the hottest element or will the resistors get hotter?  What would be the top 3 hottest elements on the board and what temperatures do you think they could get to?

Denture cleaning tablets are generally used to remove the dirt off the keycaps. They shouldn't attack the legends, just don't leave them too long in there. Or do you want to get them off?

I've been using denture tabs to clean keycaps for ages. I haven't seen any of my legends fade or be attacked. If you're looking to remove legends, I don't think the denture tabs are the way to go.

Thanks guys, I tried what you said BlueBär but to no avail, it works on my blacks but not clears sadly :\ I think I'll just wait until I get a wire puller. The tops of the switches come off almost every time I take a cap off (without breaking it) and it's pretty easy to put back together, I don't think it would be worth breaking the stabs though.

Thanks, I'll try something else. I've got an extra set of Black Topre caps I can throw on there but that will only cover so many of them. Hate to have mismatched keycaps.

I think you will have to file off the top of those because they are round.  Here is basically the same thing but it is 2x3x4mm rectangular so you do not have to modify.  These are pink instead of purple though.  You can search on ebay for 2x3x4mm and you will get mainly these LEDs.  Check the forward voltage and resistance though as not all are the same...

Size   3mm Round Top Clear
Luminosity/Brightness   2,000-3,000 mcd
Forward Voltage   3.0-3.4v
Current   20mA
Wavelength   395-405nm
Viewing Angle   20-30 Degrees
Mount Style   Through Hole (DIP)

I think you will have to file off the top of those because they are round.  Here is basically the same thing but it is 2x3x4mm rectangular so you do not have to modify.  These are pink instead of purple though.  You can search on ebay for 2x3x4mm and you will get mainly these LEDs.  Check the forward voltage and resistance though as not all are the same...

The stock LEDs on my keyboard are round. Is there a particular reason they can't be on a Poker?

After some research I think I want to buy these, I want to know if anyone knows if there would be anything wrong with putting these on a poker.

Specs are as follows:

Size   3mm Round Top Clear
Luminosity/Brightness   2,000-3,000 mcd
Forward Voltage   3.0-3.4v
Current   20mA
Wavelength   395-405nm
Viewing Angle   20-30 Degrees
Mount Style   Through Hole (DIP)
Another thing to consider is possible eye damage from UV leds, most led equip t devices warn to avoid looking directly at the led light source.

Not really.  I hear you can run into problems with thicker keycaps because the bottom of the keycap apparently hits the top of the LED.

That's why the LEDs are ground down on an angle on my KMAC. Old school

I don't think they are.

Wasn't that why LZ had to make their own PCB?

I know this isn't really keyboards related, but may I ask where do people get these pictures of keyboards for their forum signatures? I'd like that as well :D
