so I got an ergodox recently, I need a set of caps to put on it.
brainstorming some ideas:
I really dig light colors caps, and preferably with prints on. I understand it's difficult to have all printed caps on an ergodox since I might change the layout and whatnot, has to be all printed, it looks weird to have some printed and some not. =\
probably also has to be DSA profile, SP does sell them in blank sets, hmm, are they any good?

edit: if i remember correctly, there were some GBs on here with ergodox kits. but the matching alpha set is always large centered text legend, argh
this set looks pretty good: http://i.imgur.com/210xlYF.jpg

What's your question exactly? If the SP DSA caps are good?

sorry I was being vague.
I'm just looking for some suggestions on ergodox keycap sets. I prefer something printed.

I don't know too much about eDox kits but off the top of my head I remember that these GBs have eDox options:

Penumbra
Round 5 from Deskthority
Calm Depths
Also Hyperfuse had a kit.

And there's the caps that came from Massdrop:

SP PBT DCS
Clear Ergodox Caps

Hi, I recently purchased an A87 ps2avr and I need to buy a moogle kit to accomodate the old-style 86 key layout. Does anyone know where to purchase blank white thick PBT moogle sets? Preferably cherry profile.

Also, on the new signature plastics website, which of these spacebars http://keyshop.pimpmykeyboard.com/product/spacebar-inventory will fit the cherry profile? Thanks!

Hi. I have a Ducky mini, and would really want to swap the left ALT and WIN.

How?
in PN layer I figured out how to do it. As I would like this to be allways I think I should do it by DIP switches, but how to setup the DIP switches?

I have clicked the unWATCHed, unNOTIFied buttons at the top inside the thread, but it still won't do anything.

Is there any way to unsubscribe?

I dont think so.

1) Does anyone know where to purchase blank white thick PBT moogle sets?

2) Also, on the new signature plastics website, which of these spacebars http://keyshop.pimpmykeyboard.com/product/spacebar-inventory will fit the cherry profile? Thanks!

1) I've never seen a PBT Moogle set. Maybe you can find a Cherry keyboard such as the ones suggested here.

2) Anything in SP's inventory that is "DCS" will fit the Cherry Profile. DCS is their Cherry Profile. There's a link in the OP.

Awesome, thanks CPTBadAss! Can you explain what all the different types of spacebars are? For example for 7x spacebars there is BFP, GA, GAL, etc. What are the differences between these?

Use Ohm's Law to figure it out. A discussion that might help is here.

Different colors.

Hasu I believe those are press fit. You should be able to remove those with a small screwdriver or a pair of needle nose pliers. If they're the same as the white stabilizers on Model Ms, I just put some of those inserts into my 6019284 Kishsaver.

Any PCB mount keyboard allows you to open the switches without desoldering, I think.

Would recommend a PCB mount board as well. Also get some of Beasts switch tools, they make opening switches very easy!

I see. Sounds like there aren't too many PCB mounted boards out there... Thanks for your help!

As a PCB mount lover I keep a look out for them, sadly there are not a whole lot of them.
Cherry G80 series are generally PCB mount except for a few models. There are also many rebranded Cherry like Peacock, Schneider, Nixdorf, Highscreen, Scitex, Olivetti, Commodore, Amiga, Compaq, APC, etc, though usually there are only certain times where they had some G80 as a high end option so most of them are not.

Vortex Poker, Pure, Race.
Plum 96 and Neo Zelia.
WEY EK and HK series, though they are not useable without the hard to find proprietary KVM box that is required.
Alcatel MMK, some of which have a proprietary connection and protocol to be used with their thin terminals.
GH60 can be if you build it as such.

PS/2 protocol has a host-to-keyboard to request a specific codeset (F0, according to http://wiki.altium.com/display/ADOH/PS2+Commands) ... if you request code set 3 from a "normal" Model M with a PS/2 connector (1391401 for instance) will it honor that and use code set 3?

Unfortunately it didn't work for me or I didn't understand what you mentioned correctly. Stupidly I had to remove all plastic revets and take apart thoroughly to get only those parts.

Yes, that is exactly what I want to do. I sacrificed  a poor M to the beast :D

Ugh sorry you had to go through the effort :( . I shouldve posted a picture or a video.

Edit: For future reference

Unless those green inserts were a different shape, which I don't think they were, you can just pull them out of the barrel plate with some needle nose pliers. You'll have to pull pretty hard. Tested this with my 6019284 and SSK. SSK is shown in the potato picture above.

You can use a multimeter to test continuity.

Or if it's still soldered on your keyboard, you can use AquaKeyTest.

No, bad idea. Put solder on the tip of your iron or on the switch pin and the diode.

Glue isn't electrically conductive so the electrical current wouldn't flow...

I meant putting solder on the ends as a tip on how to connect the two. If you put solder on both ends and heat it up again when you get them next to each other you should get a good connection.

Does anyone with a Ducky Shine board notice a high pitched buzz/hum when your backlights are turned on?

Have not noticed that with either of my Shine IIs, and I'm normally sensitive to those sorts of sounds (and my rooms are very quiet).   My larger monitors are definitely making a high-pitched faint whistling sound though :(

Hmm ok...I never use the backlighting and just turned it on to check something and noticed it, oh well.

I have a Team OMG keyboard in my apartment, which I think is a special edition Shine II or Shine. It doesn't create any noise when the backlight is on.

It gets ever weirder. I thought maybe it was the aftermarket cable so I switched to the stock USB cable and tried different USB ports. Same high pitched noise but if I turn the brightness down the 'volume' of the noise goes down as well  ???
