Hello, I searched this thread, but didn't see an answer exactly for this question.
There are PCB mounted switches, and Plate mounted switches. Plate mounts have a couple of tabs on them for mounting on a plate. Pretty logical.
My question is, WHY are there two types of switches? Is there any benefit to have PCB mounted VS Plate mounted, or visa versa? I imagine PCB mounted would be easier for custom set ups since there's no plate that one would have to mill or get fabricated for their project, I was just wondering if there's any real benefit one way or the other?
