I think jdcarpe has one so hopefully he can comment. I think metalliqaz has one too.

Ah yes, please point me in the direction of the KMAC store :) I would surely pay $300 for an assembled KMAC.

There's not being made new anymore so Classifieds are going to be your best bet.

The TypeNow Solid is the best thing you can get, next to a Korean custom. In fact, it *is* Korean, from Leopold. :)

The aluminum housing is just what the name describes...SOLID. The orange plate is beautiful. And the browns feel like they were lubed at the factory. That's a great price for it, too. I paid $400 for mine, without keycaps.

Well, yeah. I did say it was a Leopold. ;D

Also, not flimsy at all. I haven't opened the case yet, though.

Plus, how else would I get to use this kick-ass Titanuim space bar, which only has stems at the Leo spacing?

Anyone know anything about this board?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/VINTAGE-DATA-GENERAL-KEYBOARD-KFB-4725-RED-LABEL-CLICKY-IBM-/291187498358?pt=PCA_Mice_Trackballs&hash=item43cc209d76

Looks like an Alps board with a DataGeneral sticker slapped on top of the LED window.

That doesn't even remotely look like an alps switch?

So what does it look like to you?

why is MX-Clear becoming currently popular ?
its somehow a bit similar to the brown feeling with more pronounced bump tactile although brown doesnt attract many users.

Because it's easier to get your hands on them now. Ergo Clears and normal Clears were praised for their tactility before, too.

In addition to what bluebar said. I think mechanicalkeyboards.com becoming a Cherry retailer really helped the popularity spike. It was harder to find mx clears before.

I would like the stronger bump with the lighter spring, if I do the ergo mod I suppose that lubing is almost a necessity.
Citizens United violates the essence of what made America a great country in its political system. Now it’s just an oligarchy, with unlimited political bribery being the essence of getting the nominations for president or to elect the president.
So now we’ve just seen a complete subversion of our political system as a payoff to major contributors, who want and expect and sometimes get favors for themselves after the election’s over.”

It seems to depend on how light you go. Lots of people have success with 62g and no lube.

That's what people say about mx greens/mx blues :))

A lot of people start on modern browns , and like them, until they try something else and then they find that they hate modern browns afterwards :))

Because they have the master spring for linear switches.  That is until someone is able to supply our market with springs with an even steeper spring rate.  I want something that actuates around 50-ish and then bottoms out at somewhere in the 120 range.  I have a feeling that a spring with a very quick progressive spring rate would feel very nice on MX linears but I would imagine making progressive rate springs at this size would be pretty expensive compared to linear rate springs.

Huh? The question was asking why MX clear switches are popular. I don't see what that has to do with linear switches. And I don't think the modded MX linears with Clear springs are that popular within the community to be honest.

Anyone have experience with plastidipping plates? I'm pretty sure it will adhere to the steel plate with no problem, but I'm slightly worried about when it comes to soldering the switches in.

I plastidipped the top case of my Shine II.  I haven't tried it on a plate.

I think the plastidip would get scratches or peel if you accidentally hit it with a wire keycap puller while pulling keycaps off.  It may also peel when -- as you mentioned -- insert the switches.

If you do decide to experiment and have trouble peeling the plastidip off, spray some WD40 on it and brush it.  WD40 dissolves plastidip. ;)
