Before I wait for a response from a proxier, what should I expect to pay for shipping a board from Taobao?
It all depends on weight and shipping carrier.

Around $20 on top of the original cost.

Will a mix of Cherry bottoms and Gateron tops, springs, and sliders work as a switch?  I have plate mount Cherry and PCB mount Gateron, and I want to use the Gateron internals on a plate mounted board.  Made a buying mistake.

Yep. Only thing that doesn't work is putting one's leaf in another. As long as you leave the bottom complete you'll be fine

From what I've read the parts are all interchangeable but you could just clip the nubs off the gaterons.

Tried that, don't have a good enough clipper.

Anyone ever make an 80/20 keyboard case? I'm thinking of experimenting with the JD45 PCBs I have and 80/20 seems like it could be used to make an interesting case.
People in the 1980s, in general, were clearly just better than we are now in every measurable way.

The dumber the reason the more it must be done

Yes I've seen a few cases using that but I can't think of the links right now. I want to say that one of the reddit boards had a case like that. I saw one on Geekhack too.

I'm actually kinda surprised they're not more popular. I think the modularity is really cool

Recommend some O-Rings for MX Cherry Switches.

Is there anything like that for Alps?

Is the first part a question? If so, I used the ones from wasdkeyboards. I've also used the landing pads from elite keyboards. Lpwl has some for sale that he done a lot of work on.

And I've never really experimented with our rings and Alps but I can't imagine it would feel very good. The actuation point is so much higher and I feel like Alps would feel very off.

Is it atypical/sacrilege to put o-rings on a Korean custom? I've got my first coming in soon. I dig the clack, but I also dig the feel of o-rings too.

Give me a reason not to throw money at MassDrop's o-ring sale right now pls. :3

Is there like a preferred type or brand of rubber feet to apply to the bottom of a HHKB, or will anything do? It slides quite a bit on my desk.

Don't know about the HHKB specifically, but when you buy rubber feet you're also buying the adhesive they use. In that sense, you really can't go wrong with 3M.

These have been popular for HHKB specifically.

But 3M or generic adhesive bumpons would work as well.

Looks like they're less than 3/32" high. That's pretty shallow, I doubt you'll notice much of a difference.

Is there like a preferred type or brand of rubber feet to apply to the bottom of a HHKB, or will anything do? It slides quite a bit on my desk.

Ended up picking these up. We will see how they work  :thumb: I just hope they are not too big for the application.

Looks like they're less than 3/32" high. That's pretty shallow, I doubt you'll notice much of a difference.

I just thought about this, if they are shorter than the stock plastic circle feet they will do me no good, I suppose I could always stick them on top though. I really should have looked into the sizes more.

i want to modify the usb cable so that instead of a usb male, it has a short miniusb female end so I can hotswap keyboards more easily. i want to know if it's possible and would appreciate as much information as you're willing to part with.

the keyboard in question is the Cheat, if that even matters. if this isn't possible, I'm selling this baby because this is a dealbreaker.

You can likely replace the cable.

Hi all,

I´m currently waiting for the keypop coffee 2.0 set to be produced and mailed, but as I´m currenlt using a CM Storm QuickFire Ultimate I need to replace it with a keyboard thats compatible with the set.
I need it to be brown switches, backlight is not needed. These are the ones that are available to me since I need one that is ISO http://www.prisjakt.nu/kategori.php?m=s227629919\. but I can also get a filco Majestouch 2 which one would you choose?

I use a sheet of drawer liner.  As well as stopping the HHKB from sliding across the desk, it also dampens the echo of my typing reverberating from the desk, so I can enjoy the thock a bit more.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

You've got two options. Buy the female end and swap it on or purchase a male to female cable from your favorite cable supplier. If you do it yourself, you can find pinouts for USB cables online and then splice the female cable to the male one. Then cover with heat shrink or the cover of your choosing. Then swap the cable on your Cheat. I don't know how the cable is attached to the PCB but I'll assume that it's either soldered on or fits in like a Filco with a connector. Either way, I don't think it's very hard to make what you want happen.

Is the Coffee set going to be iso compatible? I honestly don't know. Something to check out.

I'd take the Ducky honestly. I think the keycaps are decent quality, the PCB is amazing to work on, the construction is quality, and a great board all around. Either that or the Filco.
