What time on Saturday is this thing happening?

I'm asking because I was wondering if I can fly to Chicago on Sat. morning, or if I have to come the night before (which will be more difficult but not impossible.)

i have $400 in AA vouchers to cover the cost of the flight, but due to arrival and departure times, it looks like i will have to fly in on Friday and out on Sunday.

any suggestions on where to spend two nights? i would prefer not to rent a car, so a hotel within walking distance to the venue would be best. +1 to requests for actual time and address.

I am confirming this now with Ming's contact.  It will be on UIC campus and I am confirming a time slot of 11:00 - 4:00

I will follow up here as soon as i know an exact address and confirm time.

we have the room for 5 hours, but we can go bombard a restaurant and eat afterwards. this is SOP for conventions, if you've never been to one before :D. if brad can find a nighttime hangout we can end the day there too. i'm going to be in chicago for around 5-6 days, so the fun doesn't have to last only 5 hours!

i may be able to get my friend's SO to help with rides. we're still trying to figure out who's actually going to be around that weekend -- he has to be in DC for a conference until friday

to all the brilliant friends who have left us, and all the students who climb on their shoulders.

the campus is about 20 miles away. 30 minutes by car or 1:20 by light rail. the blue line is only a couple of bucks, leaves every 5 minutes, and goes from the airport to UIC without transfer.

i will be flying in Friday night and probably stay at the Airport Hilton for two nights. rooms there are only $100 a night vs $200 a night near the campus.

i will bring my buckling springs goodness - Unicomp Classic 101, TSSK (122 with 10key and nav chopped off), Model F 122 (transplanted into Model M case), M60 (60% with NKRO), XTant (modified XT) - and also spring, hammers, barrels, and caps.

"Hostelling International Chicago" looks like a nice place if you don't mind sharing a bunk room. $35 a night and you don't have to book in advance - that's the walk in the door price. online reviews are 96% positive. the clientele is mostly collage age. i think it is about 2 miles from the venue.

The room is SEO 1000, the "Science and Engineering Offices" Building: https://www.google.com/maps/preview#!q=science+and+engineering+offices&data=!1m4!1m3!1d2716!2d-87.650459!3d41.8708248!4m11!1m10!4m8!1m3!1d190256!2d-87.7319639!3d41.8337329!3m2!1i1024!2i768!4f13.1!17b1

We are planning on being in the room from 11-4, but like mkawa said we will work out other activities.

Great recommendation for budget lodging in a prime location. Its close to train stops for both airports. And for the cuba/miami fans, theres a very good cuban sandwich shop called cafecito at the base of the building

Ya I think I'm gonna be at a cubs game :(

Why go?  You know what's going to happen.  The starting pitcher will throw a gem but the Cubs will lose 2-1.

Rooftop game, free tickets, all you can drink, all you can eat.

Besides, everyone knows you don't go to cubs games for the team, you go to watch the fans that drink too much and enjoy the classic Wrigley Field.

Good call.  You can never pass up free rooftop tickets.  I got that setup when I was underage.   And when you're underage, and somebody says you can drink all the beer you would like, it's one of the greatest days of your underage life.
