Still no reveal on the EDD keycaps? I was hoping to see a picture by now. Not that it matters -- they're likely awesome.

First of all, I would like to congratulate everyone who made it into the EDD sale. Secondly, I would like to say that I am indeed happy that I made it into the original 4:20 sale. I know lots of people missed out on both and I am truly grateful to have made it in. BUT, I'm going to use this therapy thread for its intended purpose just a little bit right now.
Am I crazy for being a little sad/butthurt that the one and only CC I got in the 4:20 sale was my 11th choice on my list while some people who missed the sale completely ALL got dibs on their top two choices of the badass Earth Day caps? Does that make me ungrateful? Nuts? etc? Or am I just a little bit justified in my feelings here? Please feel free to rip me apart if Im wrong.

With that said, I apologize to Clack for this post. I know you work hard on your craft trying to please as many people as possible and posts like this probably really grinds your gears. But a mans gotta vent somewhere! :(

This is truly a bittersweet moment in my tenure here on Geekhack.

Congrats again everyone! And thanks again to you Clack! May my butthurt be a testament to the quality of your work!

I'm sure many people feel your pain, rant on good sir, rant on.

Clacks are the little pieces of plastic that bring up more emotions than anything else in our hobby world.

As someone who wasn't able to get into either sales or the Brobot one I'm going to have to go with the ungrateful option. I'm sorry :( Enjoy your new CC though!

Those are just the jimmies rustling strongly in you.  You got into a sale.  That in and of itself is a lucky thing.  I've tried to get into many sale and have been thwarted by crappy internet, being off at a job interview with no real internet, and just plain bad luck even though I got my e-mail in at 4PM on the dime.  Am I disappointed?  Of course, but it's just a thing.  An awesome thing, but just a thing.  The fact that you got anything on your list at all is wonderful.  Be happy with that.

And think of all the people who got nothing, not in the sale and no offer of dibs.  Or, think of those people who have entered every sale ever and gotten nothing.  So you got something. That in and of itself is something to be thankful for.

If you're still upset, look at all the other cool stuff people are doing and support someone with their enterprises.  Or go diving into the bins at your ecycler and try and find a board with Blue or Green Alps or something equally cool.  Or dive into Craigslist or eBay for that one treasure.  There's always something cool you can find.

I've been fortunate to have been hit by lasers once and have had some generous people at other times.  Be patient, be friendly and generous, and you'll get something.  Or offer a **** ton of money, especially via PMs, that will sadly not be shared with the Clack man and you'll get some too.

Remember, part of therapy is learning to be grateful with what you have and how to channel that disappointment.

Clack was very nice to give me a EDD ticket when I realized that my list had something that I couldnt exactly have at home (ahem, marijuana paraphenila). During then, he was very understanding that I couldnt have that sort of thing shipped to my house even though i got into the clack Sale; I even offered to pay for the clack and figure out another way to deal with it other then keeping it on my own.

He was cool enough to let me go for that, and instead, gave me the EDD ticket.

I really wanna thank him from the bottom of my heart for understanding the issue. My brain was fried from Finals Studying and I didnt know why/how i put down some of the 420 leaves as my choices. Thanks to him, I still get a clack in the end!

Once again, this goes out to one of the best keycap makers/persons I have ever met.

I think your butthurt is justified. Personally I'm not a big fan of the 4:20 caps either, and if I'd gotten one of them then missed out on those amazing ED skulls(or Spumoni, for that matter) I would feel conflicted as well.
On the other hand it's hard to be that mad since you got in the sale when so many others missed out on both. It's a weird situation.

No worries man. I fully expected to catch a few right hooks for this. Again, I am actually extremely happy/grateful to get in on the original sale. Even though I think I would have done better by missing it <---- and that statement in and itself is very selfish, but if I/we can't talk about this type of thing in this thread of all places then what's the point of having created it in the first place!

Its also worth noting that the responses so far to my post have actually made me feel better. So it works!!

If he had the EDD sale 2 weeks later would you still say the sale is justified?

Personally, I think it's silly to be pissed because you got something in an open to all sale, but then didn't get into an invitation sale that has no guarantee of actually getting something.

I totally get it nubbs. The only reason I said what I did is that by getting my 11th choice, I was not eligible to even have a shot at these caps that were not even a part of the sale that disqualified me from having that opportunity. Surely that must make a little sense. I know I'm sounding pretty stupid for this but hey, I thought it an interesting point to bring up nonetheless.

I think an important is also that you provided at least 11 keys that you were interested in. If you were only interested in a few of the designs, why list 11?

I, much like many other people thoroughly enjoy every piece of work that clack releases. I'm interested in every design/color he has. Naturally I fill my list. With that said, I always put the Topres near the end of my list regardless of their rarity since as of yet I don't own a topre board ('yet' being the reason they make the list at all) ie. Miz Kite T was near the bottom of my list even tho its probably the most popular/rare choice of this sale. So im not completely greedy and yes, I do have preferences of course, tho not based on rarity.

Some folks have different views on clacks, or really art in general. You might say, be a big fan of Picasso's work but specifically his Blue Period, and where many people would be happy to have any old Picasso, you have your heart set on a Blue. Since you can't just go and buy a Picasso whenever you want, when a situation presents itself you're going to go after a piece no matter what period it's from. Sure you will still appreciate and admire the work, but there will always be an air of disappointment because it's not the piece that holds meaning for you.

A Jealous GHer

My first ever CC was a HO Toast from last year's 420 sale.  It also was far down my list, but I was excited to get my first Clack.

I was surprised at the quality of it, and still have it somewhere (although it is MX, and I have been switching between Topre and BS keyboards of late).

Having missed out on every Clack sale since then, and having seen the amazing designs and colours that CC has produced, I realised when I didn't get anything in this CC sale that I am completely fine with that.

I long ago realised that I am never likely to get all the Clacks I really want (the list is rather short, but includes some of the rarer designs, although one of them is on its way to me now :) ), so I am happy when I get the rare and usually unexpected opportunity to acquire another one.

I will continue to enter Clack sales in the hope of acquiring some more, and of course continue to support CC and his fantastic artwork :D
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

I agree with Dustin, excellent way to describe the point. Clacks are art, I love Clacks. I missed and haven't read the drama (someone mad about "getting in" the 420 sale?)- but I like you comment!
Thanks Noisy!

According to CC this is correct.

EDIT: As in, you got something from your top 4 picks I think.

I'm not mad about getting in haha. I think I've said that about 3 times now. I was simply trying to point out that for quite a few people, not getting in seemed to work out better. Which seems a little counter intuitive and in turn rustled my jimmies a bit in (admittedly) a very selfish way. I know i'm not alone in thinking this way but I decided to put it out there because I give Clack a hell of a lot more credit than to be worried about voicing it and thought it would be an interesting point for debate. Thats all.
