I noticed today that my Kurple Push O'natural has a nice big scratch on the side. I haven't used it so it must have happened on its way to me from CC.  :(

Im pretty sure a couple others mentioned having a pretty noticeable side scratch on this round of caps as well. Is it possible it's a molding defect?

pretty sure its a molding defect. If a defect pops up, I doubt cc wants to make another mold. In fact, its more of a signature of his work. They look good but also you can clearly see they were hand made

yea, I have no problem if it's a mould defect. But if not then it's just unfortunate is all.

I think the scratches happen when he removes them from the mold, because it's very common even on brand new clacks, and almost always on the left side (right side facing you)

"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Haha, oh wow, import office won't send me clacks because I can't prove what's in the package or the value of item (I only have paypal payment screenshot, of course).

If anyone wants to marry me so I can move to US PM me please.

Thank you!

How do one count the missed sales? Does the recent surprise 1 April pea soup counts? And EDD counts as 1? If we count official ones, then it's just a 420 sales in seats of three that was missed by people :)

Yeah seriously, I got in to the first CC and BB sales I entered in. Looks like I'm in for an eternity of disappointment :p

I've decided that I only count ones I actually entered, not ones I missed like the 1 April pea soup or that were invite only like the EDD. I am 0 for 3 :(

I find counting that way makes me a little less sad  :))

I only count open sales, as in sales that were open to everyone. So only 4grabs and EK sales. Not give-aways, not dibs.

This is a therapy thread so we need a consistent way to count how badly we do so we can rank who needs therapy the most, LOL..

The Clack man must put something special in these caps, ever since I put my 420 cap on my Pure I can't stop looking at it. Makes me yearn for two more so all my boards can get the same treatment!
It's a good width!  If it's half-width it's too narrow, and full-width is too wide.

I think what kills me most is when I see WTB/WTT threads in the classifieds where people have several Clacks and state that they are for TRADE ONLY.

Then they go on to list what they have to trade, and cash is one of them. Hypocritical?

I don't see this a hypocritical.

It's up to whoever owns the clacks to determine how they want to sell/trade them.

Does not mean they are not allowed to try and buy more.

Typically the mention of cash in the case is that someone is willing to add cash with their black for the preferred trade. Experienced that a lot in paintball

You won't buy one for retail under $30 from last couple of sales. Some of the tri colors I think went for $55 retail from the man himself.

Except most didn't sell at ~$20.  Most have gone in the $30-50 range.  They were pretty much only $20 when they first came out.  And if you are patient enough, active in the community, and just try and try again, you can get one at cost or trade for one.  My Hack Orange I traded for and sold for $30, my Octopink I got for just a little over retail, my Gumrot I got at retail (one from Clack, one from someone on Reddit, one of those I traded), my Hardcore White that I gave away came to me through a trade for an Octopink Toast that I was given in the Secret Santa, and so on.

Sure, some people get what seems like a million of them and some people seem to get them thrown at them, but if you just wait, you can get one at a good price.

Personally, I wish that people sold them for what they got them at instead of treating them like bonds that mature and go for twice the buy in rate.  Or, at the very least, that they donated a portion of for profit sales to Clack himself and/or GH.

Sorry, I mentioned earlier I haven't even been here long enough to witness a CC sale, so I don't know what they actually go for from the man himself. But I'm assuming it's not the ~150-250 bones I see in some of these classifieds.

I mean, someone just posted a green gummyrot MX in the classifieds and is looking to trade for a full Poker X keyboard...I think that's ridiculous.

But yeah, I'm patient, I can wait. From what I understand ClickClack hurt his back and isn't producing any new stuff right now though, right? (does making keycaps really strain your back though srs question)

Personally, I wish that people sold them for what they got them at instead of treating them like bonds that mature and go for twice the buy in rate.  Or, at the very least, that they donated a portion of for profit sales to Clack himself and/or GH.

Agreed.

It seems like every few pages people need a basic lesson in supply and demand.

It's a tired discussion about supply and demand, different people's morals and ethics, the commodification of art and people profiting off of someone's work by getting lucky, and so on.  All I can say is that I think art should be able to be appreciated by all and not just something that a select few should be able to afford and I think it is morally wrong for people to profit off of someone else's work without adding anything to it.

Also, Clack has pretty much stated that he is not keen on the after market prices and how his work is treated, so I tend to ignore the supply and demand argument and will continue to be respectful of Clack's feelings and try and buy and sell mine at retail values, not market values.  I wouldn't be surprised if that's why Bro also added that bit in his about potentially banning people from sales who get in on his sales then flip for a profit.

I have no intention of selling any of mine, not that I have that many.

Most of them (i.e. more than half) were obtained under special circumstances and I would feel terrible even thinking about parting with them.

Art is based on patronage and adding inflated value to something that is intrinsically worthless.  These are ****ing pieces of plastic that we put on our keyboards.  We buy them because they are precious for various immaterial reasons that are personal to the buyer, so really the value of these is entirely made up.

That's why people trade them, and sell them for bazillions of dollars, and horde them.  That's why we get mad when people fake them.   That's why people will whine and rail against them, but the moment one is in their grasp all of those complaints melt away.

You cannot put a price on a value that does not exist in the real world.  Clacks are worth what people will pay for them, and everyone has their own reason.

Also, the attack on the collections of clacks applies just the same to people who collect art.  Lemme go call The Getty, all that **** needs to be spread out in the streets.

Just a footnote, since I'm one of those people who puts clacks up for trade and not sale, while still offering cash: Your money ISN'T good enough.  My clacks are more likely to get me the clack I want than any of your dollars.

But yeah, I'm patient, I can wait. From what I understand ClickClack hurt his back and isn't producing any new stuff right now though, right? (does making keycaps really strain your back though srs question)

doesn't matter.  pain is pain.

not to mention that you need to use your back to move.  posterior chain. blah blah. back bone is connected to your ass bone etc.
