All koreans thought it was a racoon back in the day so I was "raccoon guy" :P

Ha! Apparently they all use Google Chrome. :P

I'm in the "there's only so many designs you can make from a slab of aluminium" group and I did order a CE, but I will just post some pictures of the CE and the 356CL to better illustrate what some are talking about. It should be noted that the large brass piece pictured is only on the TGR CE prototype, and not the GB ones.

yuktsi was pretty vocal about his design inspirations. The r1 board was to look like the KMAC, which is primarily why I jumped on it, whereas r2 looks like the OTD boards. I agree that there's only so much you can do and keep it aluminum. The newer Korean boards are starting to look different only because there's more and more acrylic being put in. Other than the Mira, which has a smaller bottom, I really don't know how else you can change the designs of aluminum TKLs.

Keep in mind too that the number one critique that all r1 owners were giving to yuktsi was the missing slit in the bottom case that the 356cl had. He was just designing it to what people were asking it to be.

Ye but she could have been a bit more creative than just rip off another design tbh

He did also add in the acrlyic insert and change up the design of the brass plate. Like people are saying there's only so much you can do with a block of aluminum. It's just an indent in the bottom part of the case to make it easier to pick up and transport the board, plain and simple design. That's like Apple trying to patent the round edges of a phone.

I think his (yuktsi is a he; that's his SO in his avatar) goal was to recreate KMACs for those who missed out. He designed it from the bottom-up instead of just straight-up ripping off others' works. I think people are getting worked up over the Bro ripoffs because they're just straight copies from his prototypes. yuktsi's boards are up-to-date Korean copies using the latest Korean PCBs, and his latest design is based off user feedback (as others stated).

Honestly, I never once saw them as ripoffs, but I guess now I can see how it's a thin line for some. I don't see them that way, however.

Or you could not use the exact measurements from the "inspired keyboard". DonŽt see the point of keeping this argument tho, we have different opinions and that's ok

IŽll gladly have a discussion at IRC about the subject

We can't really defend the designer without knowing all the facts. Maybe there is something else going on that we don't know about. I'm content with my purchase, knowing it's not a direct copy. But perhaps there is something we at GH aren't privy to, that has made the design controversial. I don't think Meiosis or Signature are trying to disparage us as buyers who may not be in the know.

also inanis what i said earlier i assume you thought i meant all bronies and furries to be entitled, which is not true. just to clear it up if that's what you thought i meant.

No! Not at all. I just don't know where people find these things on the internet that seem so random. :)

And despite my current avatar being a pony (the most fantastic Ms. Princess Luna/Nightmare Moon), I am not a brony. And, not to discriminate, but I most certainly am not a furry. I happen to fit right into the MLP:FiM planned target demographic: parents. However, I do owe a debt of gratitude to the bronies: the writing on this show is amazing for a kids program, specifically because the writers cater to them. I'm not complaining.

Very true, I'm not trying to defend the designer but the topic was brought up without presenting any facts. I may of come off a bit harsh and I apologize, I agree there are similarities as well. I was quick to defend without knowing both sides but I'd recommend sharing the facts to understand the situation better. I am more than happy with what I purchased, I've only been here for a little over six months so my history of the korean community is second to none.

Key word "kid" either way a lot of bronies praise it for teaching good lessons while being over the age 12 you should already know all the "lessons" it teaches, only  think i could credit would be the quality of animation. a lot are entitled, and seeing it on youtube is really, really annoying.

I feel like I may sound like a brony when I say this, but they are right - It does teach good lessons about friendship. I know that sounds lame, and like anyone over 12 would know that already, but a lot of people don't. I can assume that most of these guys that identify as 'brony' do it because they are socially inept (if a brony is reading this please take no offense, I am too). And they have found a subculture full of other socially inept people discovering that there are things outside yourself that really do matter. If someone takes that life lesson away, I'm not going to judge.

They don't need to be ****s about it though.  :p

****ing data caps.

I went over for the third time this month.  Now I am getting charge extra.  It makes me unreasonably angry to be limited by someone with assume authority.  I feel so impotent in my rage.

Then they notify you about going over the cap.  I got an email, a pop up, and a phone call all asking if I wanted to buy a bigger data plan.  I told the lady on the phone that it is a usurious practice and will be made illegal soon enough.  She didn't understand that sentence, so I just told her "no thanks" and hung up.  There is no reason for me to get mad at a call center lady for company policy.

The bigger plan they want to sell you? $10 extra per month.  The charge for going over my cap? $10.  They are just trying to pull every last cent out of stupid people.

My current daily usage is 7-8 GB/day.  The outlier this month was downloading Fallout 4.  I don't stream anything, so my usage is outrageous.  Right about now, you might be asking "Blue, what do you do on the internet to reach 8 GB/day if you don't stream with Netflix or something?"  I can answer that.  I am running ntop on my server, and I'm getting flow reports from my DDWRT.  The majority of my usage is on non-standard ports to 1e100.net.  Not familiar with them?  IT'S ****ING GOOGLE.  I lose so much bandwidth per day to Google running **** in the background of my PC it is insane.

Every day **** like this happens I feel like I am one step closer to going full Linux.

Edit: also, since I was rationing my internet over the weekend, I missed out on the latest drama here.

Hopefully the news that Comcast is rolling their data caps across the country now instead of just a few select areas will spark up some much needed protest against the caps.  I've been dealing with this nonsense for 2 years now.

Are you sure some government agency isn't secretly swiping your hard drives 8Gb at a time?

And surely you can configure something to stop all that data from just leaking out.

Sometimes when I go to piddle, I pull the elastic band of my boxers down with my thumb... and midstream... my thumb slips... allowing the rather stiff elastic band of my boxers to propel itself at maximum force like a slingshot from hell into my poor sensitive (and usually right... sometimes both) nugget...

I can't be the only person who possesses nuggets to have experienced this...

That sudden slapping sound... followed by the very deep and slow setting pain that ensues... and then you're all like, "do I stop piddling and cope with this pain, or do I resume the piddling and react to the pain afterwards?"

That sudden slapping sound... followed by the very deep and slow setting pain that ensues... and then you're all like, "do I stop piddling and cope with this pain, or do I resume the piddling and react to the pain afterwards?"

downstairs be like...
Show Image

Do you piss all over the place when this happens?

LOL!

I won't lie ~ there have been times when a lil' cleaning is required afterwards, but most of the time the impact is entirely on my nugget so only a small deviant in the projectile.

I hate getting my nuggs slapped while piddling.
O_o

dem poor ghostjuggernuggets ~

"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Honestly I think that's all people care about anymore is novelty caps the sad part is when they immediately get flipped on reddit  for huge profits after being bought at retail prices.

Edited for clarity.

My headaches have been a lot worse this week. I think they're being caused by end of the semester GPA stress but I'm not sure. Friday can't come soon enough.

Not directed at you jd, I was just noting that it was pretty ironic, only recently did I learn about the drama involved in how the design came to be. While there are 25 being opened to GH there are plenty more offsite with much more liberal customizations.

I know that this conversation has basically concluded, so I apologize for bringing it back up, but I feel like we all wasted a ton of time and effort here.

If you want to make a legitimate complaint/concern/whatever about something such as this, please both a) explain yourself in a non-ambiguous manner so that we actually have a clue what you're talking about and b) give some context and examples to prove your point.  We could have saved three pages of bickering and nonsense if we had simply been given the information up front.

Telling us to learn Korean in order to understand a vague point of drama that you bring up is neither sensible nor fair.

You are of course free to continue posting ambiguous complaints, but I want to let you know that I personally will be ignoring them from now on.  If you can't be bothered to formulate a coherent post when making a point such as this, I won't be bothered to care.

Thank you, and we now return to your regularly scheduled bothering.

Mine ain't a GIF, but I spend about an hour on each avatar. A freakin' hour. That's way too long.

And one last thing about the Jane. yuktsi had indeed been working on that cut-out design before round 1 boards were finalized. If you look at the IC and his past pictures (on Instagram, I think), you can see he's been toying with the design for a long time. I guess he wanted both, so decided to do two rounds instead of keeping it at the one. The "complaints" during round 1 probably boosted him even more to get it done.
That's my theory.

Is this a requirement for high school wrestling? The wearing of the whitie-tighties? HUE.

I was expecting, "Last time I wore whitie-tighties was when I saw a skid mark..."

You couldn't wear boxer-briefs or boxers since they're looser, so whitie-tighties were the only option. Or you could weigh in naked.   :p

I always wear boxers unless I need the support, and then I pull out a pair of briefs.

Boxer briefs, to me, seem to represent the worst of both worlds.

PS - When I was in college they were "squeezies" and "breezies" (and boxer briefs had not been invented)
"However, even though I was born in the Mesozoic, I do know what anyone who wants to reach out to young people should say: Billionaires took your money. They took your chance to buy a home. They took your chance at a good education. They stole your opportunities. Billionaires took the things you want in life. If you really want those things, you have to take them back.
That's the message. That's the whole message. Say that every day, not just to reach America's frustrated young white men, but people of every age, race, and gender.
Late-stage capitalism is a wealth-concentration engine, focused on vacuuming up every dollar and putting it in as few hands as possible. Republicans are helping that vacuum suck.
How does a tiny fraction of the population get away with this? They do it by dividing the other 99% of Americans against themselves."
