I've never had a problem with Bro personally, but here we go with a surprising attack from such a prestigious member.

 ;)

Wat

Bee insults Topre MX sliders and/or GMK caps, Bro insults Bee.  Very bizarre, I can only assume it was a really bad joke!

Yeah, I got that bit, what I didn't get is why she deleted the screencap.

No need to continue anymore drama, lord knows enough is on my ass.
Beehatch asking people not to cause drake and actively trying not to cause more drama, yup everyone it's the apocalypse ;p

Man I go to a homeowners' meeting and miss all the juicy drama. All I got to hear was old white people complaining about not getting a $17 check from our old waste management company and tattle on neighbors dumping yard clippings.  :(

I spent over a decade on our homeowners' board and/or committees it was a pretty lousy and thankless job.

But I think that we did do a good job of keeping appearances up, along with property values.

I don't think anybody calls themselves liberal these days,

I am proud to call myself a progressive, a bleeding-heart liberal, a yellow dog Democrat, and a Bernie Sanders Democratic Socialist.

"Conservative" in today's America is just another word for hateful, greedy, evil Luddite swine, or mindless minion of same.

Eh, I still know lots of people, especially up here in the north, who refer to themselves as liberals. Personally I consider myself to be too fall under the popular category of liberal, but I know that a lot of people in Vermont would call themselves liberals if asked.

I'm just going by what I hear on the news (mostly NPR these days), maybe that's not an accurate sample.

I'm curious at your choice of derogatory terms here. Do you really consider a group of people with slightly different political leanings to be evil?

Fohat gets worked up when it comes to politics.

I realized a few years back, that two diametrically opposing views can both be well thought out, well reasoned and well supported at the same time. The key is perspective. We all observe the same facts, but emphasize and deemphasize their relative importance based on our own predispositions.

For example, gay marriage. Everybody observed that gays weren't allowed to marry. Everyone observed that this fact simultaneously worked to the benefit of moral conservatism and to the detriment of the gay rights movement. But which one of those two is important to you? The answer to that question is 100% based on your perspective.

Trouble is, everybody just assumes the other side are stupid and/or evil. Neither is actually evil, or rather, if a person is evil it's because they're a scumbag, not because they subscribe to a particular political platform. And it's not like education will somehow sway everyone to your viewpoint, either. There are smart people on both sides, all with their own interests and biases.

Only when you learn to respect people despite their different opinions, do you have any hope of achieving anything worthwhile through discourse.

I'm curious at your choice of derogatory terms here. Do you really consider a group of people with slightly different political leanings to be evil?

I use the word "evil" to refer to people who initiate selfish wars of conquest.

Bush Jr's wars were such a monumental evil and crime against humanity that they completely wash away anything positive that could ever be associated with him.

And ISIS is merely the monster that was born out of those actions. Bush Jr (along with Wolfowitz, Cheney, Rumsfeld, etc) is responsible for that, too.

For this I hold the Republican Party in America today 100% responsible, and even their other accomplishments like allowing Wall Street to devastate our society and ship a huge chunk of our national wealth out of the country pale in comparison.

I know that you consider yourself a "libertarian" and, in fact, I consider myself one, too, but that is no more than an idyllic dream in the face of the world that we inhabit today.

Everything is out of control and freely elected governments are the only mechanisms with the capability to rein in people's baser instincts.

That's the message. That's the whole message. Say that every day, not just to reach America's frustrated young white men, but people of every age, race, and gender.

I've heard that the USA has the two party system, and those two parties are very alike, besides that they disagree on minor issues like abortions, and do their best to polarize the country's society about those.
(...)Whereas back then I wrote about the tyranny of the majority, today I'd combine that with the tyranny of the minorities. These days, you have to be careful of both. They both want to control you. The first group, by making you do the same thing over and over again. The second group is indicated by the letters I get from the Vassar girls who want me to put more women's lib in The Martian Chronicles, or from blacks who want more black people in Dandelion Wine.
I say to both bunches, Whether you're a majority or minority, bug off! To hell with anybody who wants to tell me what to write. Their society breaks down into subsections of minorities who then, in effect, burn books by banning them. All this political correctness that's rampant on campuses is b.s.

The 0.001% (financial vampires that they are) use minor issues as a smoke screen to disguise their real activity of sucking the 99% dry.

My husband got into a car accident with his car. They haven't fixed it yet, it won't be ready until at least Dec 8th. His rental just expired so now he is using my car. I'll end up with a rental at some point, probably next week.

Yes, pretty much this. The parties are so similar, that any outsider would be hard pressed to distinguish one from the other. And yet, the populace is divided over minor philosophical differences. To the point that they hold prejudicial beliefs about each other based solely on party affiliation.

Here's a better way to put it: politicians are nearly indistinguishable when they get into the oval office.

Dead giveaway: mass surveillance and drone strikes were not stopped or even reduced under Obama.

Grand politics are completely inconsequential to the average voter. It literally does not matter at all who is president. Cable news is just TMZ: Washington DC Edition.

This is, of course, my opinion. But it's a liberating one, because I am now free to live my life and influence my local community without getting entangled in needless debate over stuff that doesn't matter and/or stuff that I can't change anyway.

Don't get me wrong, I'll go and vote twice a year, and I'll stay informed as much as is prudent. But I refuse to get caught up in the ongoing shouting match that is national politics.

As a party, what the Democrats are promoting, and the Republicans are fighting today is what the Republicans were promoting, and the Democrats were fighting 15 years ago.
