Was gonna say, it really doesn't take terribly long to get there just by browsing around, then I saw you're at 15 after 3.5 years... It may be a while...

Here's a slightly meaningful post, anyone heard from Bunny or Cody of late?  Actually was the real reason I was checking in on the ctrl website.  I was looking to see if an order I placed was moving along, then I jumped back here to check out the bro caps thread to see if the banner about the monstermash sale was posted already.  Good luck to all the 50 and overs LOL, I try not to post much as most of the time I see someone has already posted about something I was going to either ask or update about.  This one though about Cody and Bunny though has me wondering if they've been tied up working on the new ctrlalt web store.

I don't know about Cody but Bunny just had a baby! There is a post in the ctrlalt subforum: https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=76291.0

He's back home but I imagine he's very very busy and incredibly tired taking care of his wife and son.

They wouldn't have put that up if they weren't working on it, I don't think. Probably impossible to contact either at the moment between the little Bunny being born and cody coding. Give cody an extra couple of days considering he just got into pushing out the Punks stickers, pins, tshirts, etc, too.

Many thanks for the confirmations.  Yeah, I know Bunny was taking care of his wife and his newborn.  Totally know how life is more important.  Yeah and I also know Cody was also swamped, that's why I just rather verify these things minus drama.  Appreciate you guys.  See, 90% of the time other posts make it better for me just to wait and see rather than bother with nuances.

Not that I really mind not being able to participate in this particular sale as none of this sale's caps really interest me this time around...But I can't figure out what I could possibly post about to get a 50 post count even if I wanted to.

I'm too busy with school to learn to build keyboards. I don't even have any special keyboards because my money has been tied up in Sprit's groupbuy since I created this account for it (lurking before that) so I don't even have relevant content to share. Am I supposed to just post my 1 or 2 keysets and some artisans on a table and say under this would be my keyboard if I had one like r/mk reddit ****posts? Commenting on other people's content just feels noncontributing if I got no basis for an opinion.

Perhaps this hobby just isn't for me until I finish school but because of my 2 year limbo in Sprit's groupbuy I've gotten desperate enough to resort to biting the bullet and joining Hubble's groupbuy / crying in this thread in a pathetic attempt to participate.

Just hang out, talk to people, get to know everyone, post when you want to say something. Go and encourage people in Making Stuff Together, take some photos of your artisans or boards and post them in relevant threads, there is lots to do!  :)

My problem is I got nothing to talk about keyboard wise which I figured was the point of a 50 post requirement. My planned entry into the hobby when I actually had time to learn about keyboards on-hands never happened 2 years ago. I didn't buy keysets and artisans to be greedy (why I don't mind not being able to participate in this sale), I bought them for a hypothetical board that never happened. Am I supposed to just take pictures of a stock keyboard? Or like I said ****post look at me trying out my keys meant for another board that I'm just going to take off because it's ugly on this board / I don't want to wear them out. Even then I don't have a fancy camera lol.

My view is the same as Lol.  Guys here are true to this club, first starters like me would just potato pic a sneaker because we don't even have our board yet.  The whole process as most of us learn takes a year or two of waiting, GB'ing, going broke, and waiting (oh yeah I think I said that already), and then buying more boards AND caps and then keyboard cases only to finally take that one pic of the first board (and it doesn't even look half as good as the three posts above ours cuz THAT dude got a bro cap (lol).  Oh well, but back to bro cap theory.  When's the site up cuz I wanna see the next one...

some ideas for you -
-post song lyrics across topics and associate some sort of puzzle with them. person who solves the puzzle gets a pic of your spritless-desk (which you then x-post into the post a picture of your desk and post your sprit threads).

-start a "build log for my sprit" thread in making stuff together and give daily "updates".

-start a thread about reddit somewhere and be really active in it. people on here really relish the opportunity to express their thoughts on something that's different that they make no effort to understand. you could easily rack up 50 posts in a day in this type of thread.

-and there's always dank ****ing memes and gifs.

that's all i have for now. since you haven't posted a whole lot, you haven't really developed an identity/expectations for what type of post content you'll produce, so you can just fake it until you make it (to 50).

and if all else fails, pay someone qualified to enter bro sales you're interested in for you. some might consider this "gaming the system", but that's just the man trying to hold you down. ignore it. if the man catches you and tells you you're banned from future sales, tell him to check his privilege and write a blog about the experience. that'll show him.

i'm bored.

There are plenty of forums to post in to get to 50 posts. The "Other Geeky Stuff" section increases your post count as well if you don't feel like you have much to contribute to the keyboards sections. Also, who cares if the person's board above yours is "better"? The board I've been using the most lately is a cheapo Lolita Spyder with Kailh reds that I got for $40 on r/mechmarket to see if I liked the TKL layout.

While this is very creative (apparently I have much to learn) it still sounds like ****posting. Like others coming out of the woodworks in here because of the 50 post requirement I more saw it as a 'wakeup' call that myself and many others are not contributing to the community and thus not as deserving to participate in things such as brocaps sales. To be honest, from the limited interactions I have had on here I do feel a sense of discrimination against me (not surprisingly) just because I'm not an established member. I figured the new post requirement was to encourage the desire contribute to be able to participate, not ****post gifs.     :-\

Honestly, most of the posts lately in therapy, have been really good discussion.  Hell, look back through all of the therapy threads, and they are mostly all ****posts.  Do what you are doing here, but in other threads of interest, and you guys will get there in no time.

I would not recommend ****posting gifs though, unless they are relevant to whatever is going on at the time.

I should have clarified in my first post. 50 posts is not necessarily hard to do. What I am thinking is going to be hard for me is 50 actual contributing posts without a special keyboard or knowledge. A discussion like this one is easy because it does not require that. I hate to single people out but just look at the one joke earlier here "GIF a day." That poster barely making the requirement doesn't have any special keyboards either and is limited to simple that looks cool one sentence comment posts. I don't think that's necessarily bad just not the point of brocap's post requirement.

I understand that, but you can still contribute.  Ask questions, there are a lot of really intelligent people around here, that you can learn a lot from.  You could always post a short review of the keyboard you are currently using, and give your thoughts on it.

Hey man, I was just kidding around. Yes, a lot of my comments are one liners and if I'm not at the requirement for this sale that's totally fine. I plan on being on the forums for the long haul and contributing what I can when I can. There's no need to publicly humiliate me.

is this how you plan to get your start? Trashing other members and complaining about the rules?

Which leads me to my next point of this slippery slope. Just look at the ****poster in the other BroCap PowderPuff Esc thread getting warned. If for some reason ****posting and GIFs did not count towards the 50 post requirement we would just get an influx of Poker and Razer reviews / pics from these people that plague reddit.

I was not trashing on you, I even said I saw nothing wrong with it. I was just using you as an example of many others trying to make 50 posts. I also am not complaining about the rules, if I actually cared about participating in the sale which I already said I wasn't I would just simply make 50 comment posts...

That poster barely making the requirement doesn't have any special keyboards either and is limited to simple that looks cool one sentence comment posts. I don't think that's necessarily bad just not the point of brocap's post requirement.

Honestly, most of the posts lately in therapy, have been really good discussion.  Hell, look back through all of the therapy threads, and they are mostly all ****posts.  Do what you are doing here, but in other threads of interest, and you guys will get there in no time.

I would not recommend ****posting gifs though, unless they are relevant to whatever is going on at the time.

I should have clarified in my first post. 50 posts is not necessarily hard to do. I've just had a look at your posts and I don't think he was talking about you - there have been many "worse" spammy posters over the past week or so...

@lol - if you aren't colourblind you can post your perfectly valid opinions on the colour combinations proposed in the Interest Checks section.  Actually scrap that - even if you are colourblind your opinion still counts, just don't be surprised if you're in the minority :))

Also, if you are "new" and wanting to learn about keyboards, I highly suggest the "Making Stuff Together" thread. Just ask questions. I still don't know **** about ****, but I still find myself in MST either lurking or pestering OPs about their builds.
My wife I a also push her button . But now she have her button push by a different men. So I buy a keyboard a mechanicale, she a reliable like a Fiat.

While this is very creative (apparently I have much to learn) it still sounds like ****posting.
75% of this forum is ****posting, fam. there are many topics that are total redundancies of one another (i mean there are two brocap gallery threads, for ****s sake just merge them already), so often times you see the same content crossposted over and over again. i mean, you could stretch a single brocap into 9 posts as it stands.

the good thing about forums like these is they establish more of a community feel, where each active person is less faceless and their thoughts have background to them. the downside is that people tend to cling to established threads, and as a result it's rare to see new discussion under an appropriately-titled new topic because it'll get a lot less eyes on it. the thing about the sub-50 posters though is that a lot of them are newer, and haven't really established their viewing patterns (unless they're only looking for handouts or some bull****).

so one thing you could do is pop up a separate thread on why you're interested in bro caps in the keycap subforum and take the thread whichever direction you feel with it. the "how do i reach 50" questions that get posted in here every three days get crushed under the general "therapy" discussion, so you break it out and each of you are able to gain a few posts just by contributing in the new topic, where the subject matter is focused (and clearly something you're all interested in). from that thread, hopefully you'll discover other mutual interests that community members have with you, and you can carry those discussions into either existing threads, or create more new topics to carry them forward.

and i know it's tough for introverted people/non-english first language to feel comfortable posting in a community where you're kind of an outsider, so what i wrote above might seem a bit intimidating, but i'm introverted too and look how many bull**** posts i have. it might take you three months to get to the requirement, but if you really do want that plastic, then you'll put in the effort. just don't be all mopey depressey when you get there and then go 0/10 on raffles (i know i did after a couple), because one thing you'll hopefully learn in life is that you aren't entitled to ****. i don't know where i'm going with this, so i'm just going to press post and then pick my nose. godspeed to the low post folk though.

I actually was  :-[  It was not my intention to "trash" them and I did not consider their posts to be ****post I just glanced at their post history purely for the purpose of trying to get ideas on how to get a higher post count when his signature showed he did not have any special keyboards. Not to my surprise, there wasn't really anything "new" idea wise other than simple one sentence comments so I used them as an example.

This is the kind of ideas (thanks ) I was looking for and was hoping discussion would bring up to encourage members like me that ****posting isn't necessary if they really want to make a 50 post count.

Yep. We're technically derailing and ****posting the **** out of the BRO CAPS THERAPY thread.

Don't be scared to do it other places.

You could always give your opinions on a custom project, IC for keysets, new artisan sculpts, etc.

You could always post a short review of the keyboard you are currently using, and give your thoughts on it.

I think as long as you post with the intent to contribute and not the intent to fulfill a 50 post requirement (and it is painfully obvious when this is the motivating factor), I think you should be good! I mean I just jumped into mech keyboard not even a month ago. I had so many questions to ask, compliments to give, and jokes to make just browsing the forum frequently - and I'm up over 200 now. And let me tell you it didn't really feel like a lot of effort at all. Like the others have said, there are non-mech related threads in the Off-Topic Forum or Other Geeky Stuff. I'm sure you can find something in common to discuss! Hell a lot of my post may have been a few words or a gif/picture but it was always the intent to post these to add to the discussion. I think if that's your intent then people pick up on that. If your intent is to **** post and necro threads from 2013, then people pick up on that too.

There's no black and white sides when it comes to ****-posting. It was just a requirement set out so that people don't do exactly what that other member who received the warning did - spam the hell out of the entire site.

You don't need to have indepth knowledge to contribute! Just offer your opinion, or ask a question. I think 99% of my post count is doing one of those two things. The more you put yourself into the conversation the easier it is to get the post count up naturally, without ****posting.

i mean, you could stretch a single brocap into 9 posts as it stands.

What did you get in the mail today, Post your Bro Caps, Bro Caps gallery, Keycap and keyboard photography, Post your artisan caps, What did you add to your board today, Bro Caps therapy (woops wrong thread), Post your (insert type here) keyboard.

Yeah you can rack up a lot in x-posts alone.

Back on topic...

Y'all can have the zombros. It has crossed that line for me where it is just a little too fleshy and no longer appealing. I know some of you are freakydeaky and will love it, though.

When is poor cody gonna get this **** running? I have some leftover HGH that I gave Peyton Manning last night he can have.

Ditto here. The flesh tones look amazing, but wouldn't want that on my personal boards. Same why I opted for the gold Cherokey over the flesh-colored one.

Eager to see what other colors, if any, are tossed out there.

I thought about listing that under the woops, but it doesn't happen that often so I left it out. But, I never realized you could take one photo that far.

If we're getting back on topic, I need therapy for missing out on the Cherokey sale   :'(
