Try more keys in one row, that is usually the weak point of the old Cherry matrix. It seems to manage at least 5KRO though, which is better than what a regular revision 17 board (or 1196 OEM board) of similar vintage does (3KRO), so it may very well do NKRO. Seems like it isn't the only OEM version like that, the same reportedly applies to 1273 and 1286 as well.

This message was probably typed on a vintage G80-3000 with blues. Double-shots, baby. :D

Please post if any Cherry keyboards pop up  that are black (the case, not the switch) and potentially have double shot keys.

That would be once in a blue moon. I think you have a far better chance of finding something (typically G81-1900/7000) on your side of the pond. "Serious" keyboards have been almost exclusively light-colored here.

I agree, most Cherry boards don't come in black here. Even getting a current generation black G80 with English layout was hard.

In regards to the boards I got yesterday, some production dates:

G80-1212: 20th April 1989
G80-1000: 1x August 1990 (can't read the 2nd digit, rubbed off)
G80-3019: Unknown, this one has a fancy sticker with lots of hand written numbers on it inside. Maybe this has to do with the OEM customization.

PS: Should I move any further discussion regarding these boards (i.e more roll over tests, etc) to a more fitting topic? Maybe your "dating cherry keyboards" entry keyb_gr?

PPS: Maybe we can rename this topic to eBay Germany or something? Its not really only about Cherry anymore.

Sounds like a good idea.

I tried, but it seems editing the title of the first post is not enough.

Looks like a Model M, might be a rubber dome version though - ends tomorrow

Turned out to be a regular gray label BS with a cable in very good condition. Just needs cleaning.

Some new G80 or G81 in original packaging, ending soon

Seems like G80-1501s are quite sought-after, as  this and this one show. Apparently they're still of value to the medical folks, otherwise they'd be a good candidate for a NKRO board on the cheap.

Still no bids on this one yet? Keys seem to be 2-shot judging from the high contrast on the picture.

Perhaps it's the MFII layout and DIN plug deterring folks. Seems to be a ca. 1996 or later sample in any case, judging by the model name.

I'm done buying keyboards for sure.

Hard to tell. Blacks should be fairly common, of course, but my random picks of unspecified G80s had clears (twice actually, crazy luck). So it could also have blues or clears. It's a gamble, probably more for those content with whatever they get. My G80-3000HAD ended up with the case and keycaps from my very first G80 with blues, now serving as an experimental board (QWERTά etc.) while the board with blues and two-shot keycaps sits on my main comp.

Looks like double shot keys for sure. Sadly I am as well done buying G80s, I can literally pile them to the ceiling, or take a bath in double shot keycaps (take that ripster!)

Uses the hybrid spring loaded rubberdomes I think - According to Amiga users a decent switch type.

Where did get that info from?  Unless that is some kind of special edition, that is a standard rubber dome board.  Very common.

It seems as if the later models used rubber springs instead of actual springs, but yeah. It seems to be not a normal rubber dome but rather a fancy rubber dome with one dome that collapses and one that puts the keycap back up? Maybe similar to the Fujitsu LiberTouch?

WTF is this? OEM Model M? Some clone? High shipping :(

Doesn't look like a real M, more likely a clone. Has to be some kind of membrane-based board due to the curvature.

Btw: The G80-5000 ended today.. 584,90 EUR.

This one in used condition just went for Euro 406,-.

The time for cheap G80-5000s seems to be over. At least if the seller is willing to ship international.

Monterey International Corp. Model No. K104

Does anybody know what kind of switches the second one has?

I think this keyboard uses the same SMK-Monterey switches that are found in certain Chicony KB-5181s - tactile click with blue axis. It's a bit hard to tell, though, as Monterey seems to have varied components under the same model number... much like Chicony.

A Google image search for 'Monterey K104 keyboard' yields two different keyboards with the same model number (one appears to use a blue axis Alps-style switch), both of which look different than the keyboard in the auction.

To find out what switch this particular keyboard uses you could ask the seller to pull a key cap and photograph the switch. Unless, that is, you like to gamble.

In any case, Sandy has photos and discussion of the SMK-Monterey switch here. (Japanese)
mousefan has a few additional photos here. (Japanese)
Geekhack member maxlugar talks about his Chicony KB-5181 equipped with the blue SMK-Monterey switch in this post. (English)

Cherry only made those models with black switches.

If you want some other switch, you can only hope that someone asked Cherry to make an OEM version.

Nope, just that it's a US-style layout, which is kinda rare over here where ISO layouts (102/105-key with inverted-L Enter) are the norm.

Relists by the people who bought them before or by the same sellers (that would mean they tried to up the price and ended up buying their own s**t)?

Same sellers.

Not sure if it was shill bidding. The Link 1 guy reduced the sales area to Europe, I suspect he had a non-paying overseas bidder or other problems with the transaction.

Curious, I wonder if the buyer just happen to be from Plα de Palau, Barcelona. One of my silly hunches.

Dude, what's so special about these boards? I mean, they are broken in the middle, and they have German layouts.

Seriously, why would I want one of those?
