I had a regular HHKB before but didn't like it. After using my silenced Realforce there's no way I could go back to non-silenced Topre. I don't think I've tried a Type-S but if there's one HHKB I had to get it'd be that one.

Most if not all of the tactility of a topre swtich but without any of the clank from its upstroke. It's just something I prefer.

alright you mx peasants (<3) i think it's time to convert more of you to the hhkb side. so, in doing my part to please the Topre Gods, I will put my beloved HHKB in a U.S. tour. First round will be 10 people. Now, this HHKB is near and dear to my heart so please treat it with the respect is deserves. and don't steal it. or the HHKB goons will find you, and beat the **** out of you.

About the keyboard:

It was crowdfunded through GH when all I had was a ****ty siig minitouch. Moose started it (RIP uncle moose, for real) and I'm not 100% sure who donated but they're awesome and I'll never forget it. So please, don't steal it. Like, for real, don't. I'm trusting you. DONT STEAL MY KEYBOARD.

It's completely stock, aside from the black printed keyset. No lubes, not dumb ass silencing. It's how the HHKB gods intended it to be. Pure unadulterated topre goodness. No, the reaper won't be included.. I'm not that nice OuO. It'll be cleaned, as it's a little dusty right now. It won't have the USB cable.. this is GH, you all should have enough mini USB connectors already. AND, because I live the HHKB life.. the first three people the convert to the HHKB life.. I will give you each 50 dorrah towards a new (or used) HHKB. You must buy it first, then I'll send you the money. All I ask is that, if for whatever reason you quit the church of topre.. you die in a fire.... OR, you discount 50 dorrah from your asking price.

So, what is the catch?

You MUST have a minimum of 200 posts and 2 months being a member. I mean 200 posts that count, not total. Lesbihonest, off topic is the best subforum but it doesn't bring anything to the table that'll make me think you're serious. The only way to get around the requirements is if a seasoned member vouches for you.. and even then, I'll have to think about it. I'll need all your address and contact info including phone number in case somebody wants to go awol on my ****. One person ships to the next and so on until we reach the last person.

First ten people get in the first round, if all goes well and I don't get jacked (seriously, don't steal my ****) I'll do another round.

TL:DR

You want to try hhkb? you got it. First three to convert get 50 dorrah towards an HHKB. Change your mind? Sell that HHKB 50 dorrah less. 200 posts/2 months requirement. I would be interested (though it seems I don't have the post count, but have been around for a while).

There is also going to be a meetup in my area sometime soon so if that were to happen I should be able to try an HHKB and would no longer have the need. I have been waiting on the Mira too long at this point and feel like maybe I should just go for the Topre life and forget about customs.

You say this now, but how about you hold off on judgement until you get the keyboard. Make sure to heavily inspect the "O" key. That's where the bad stuff happened.

I've tried the space bar both flipped and not flipped. I really can't tell what the benefit of one is over the other, so I just leave it in the standard position so it doesn't look out of place. Is "the normal layout hurts my thumbs" really an argument for flipping the space bar?

Of course. If it feels better for the person, why wouldn't it be a legitimate argument?

When you flip it, your thumb can sit further back without hitting the edge of the spacebar, allowing for a more relaxed hand position (for me anyways).
