Time to find out what the hype behind this layout is... i got into mechnical keyboards so I could get away from this layout and try the 65 and 75 layout but I might come back full circle seeing how popular TKLs are again %^^

Please give EU proxy Geon

+1 for EU  :)

As an EU customer: I'd rather buy from a proxy shop in the EU instead of oversea, because it's clear what I pay.

+1 for EU vendor please!

Another EU customer here. I would also highly appreciate a EU vendor.
Nevertheless, super relaxing to see one might actually get a board of this quality. Excited for purple!

+1 for EU vendor please!

I will think about EU vendor again after 3~4 months of sales from Korean vendor to EU.

Such a great price point for such an awe-inspiring TKL.

Cannot wait to see these in the hands of the people who want them.

hopefully, skipped some tkls waiting for this :)

A good solution for it would maybe do it GB style for EU people? As it being in-stock is most likely one of the problems of having an EU vendor.

I am honestly not a fan of TKLs, but damn this is nice. I may have to pick one up. That mounting system looks like it could be very promising while being similar to the basic top mount.

Pity. While I respect your decision, that will spoil the board for many EU enthusiasts. Oh well, can't have everything :)

@geonworks Please keep in mind that direct sales from Korea vendor to EU won't necessarily be relevant, some of the EU folk won't order from non-EU vendors, imports and taxes being a hassle in some countries.

Agree.

As much as I really want to get this board, paying ~550 USD seems too high for me, because, for this price, the expectations are totally different.
Add the customs variable into account, the fact that you might have to drive 50-400 km to the customs office (depending on where you live), that's another 30-100USD for gas.

Let's see, maybe at the end of the year, we might get a chance from an EU vendor for a decent price.

The Frog is meant to be an affordable board for new enthusiasts and the price just doesn't reflect that after shipping from Korea, import duties and VAT.

Not being a douche but it's not Geon's responsibility to resolve the high customs EU forces on imports. Even if EU gets a vendor, price will not be at the level of the Asian or NA vendor unless the vendor is willing to operate at a very very thin margin. He mentioned on stream that he did the calculation and once you factor in the EU vendor's margin, going through an EU vendor doesn't save cost for the end consumer compared to selling through the Korean vendor for EU customers. So there's that.

Even with an EU vendor there is still VAT to pay so it won't become as cheap as NA/Asia. Shipping will be cheaper though

Buying it straight fromKorea, we would need to add around 30% for customs and VAT, right?

Another question - is there any compatible pcb that would have rgb and hot swap?
I'm not an expert in those pcb acronyms.

Then you are clearly not an EU customer.

I think non-EU people that are saying we making it a super big problem for no reason, you don't really understand, VAT itself is not the problem, I would gladly pay swagkeys price + vat if it was only that but its not, as it has been explained in detail both here and geon's discord.

Also for EU people, Geon already said he will think about it for future runs so... that's already appreciated.

Sorry I didn’t go far enough back to see the explanations. Paying tax twice seems silly, unlucky to be in EU I guess.

People think it's about the VAT and it's not, we already know that we will pay that on a EU vendor anyways, the convinience of having an EU proxy is specially not dealing with other extra taxes or charges some companies ''magically'' add to the mix with the excuse of "administrative expenses" or something like that, companies like DHL, UPS and others are so scummy when you receive a package from ASIA or USA to EU, they will do whatever they want to make you pay extra money because If you don't comply, you won't get the package.

Also the risk of losing the package during traveling is minimized if you have a proxy in EU, no extra charges, no major risks of losing the package... It's not always about saving money.

And the shipping it's not the same, we are individual customers buying 1 maybe 2 products, where as Mykeboard.eu (for example) is a company buying a product in bulk, so they can make deals with courier companies to get shipping discounts or something like that.

I rather pay 14€ to a EU proxy instead of 50€ to a Korean proxy.

True, it gets really, really expensive, and the math is not even that clear, you never know exactly how much you are going to end up paying, you unless now the minimum you are going to pay.

Chiming in the topic of EU vendor. AFAIK when working with vendor, the vendor get some cut/incentive for being the vendor of the product. In this case anyone know whether it'll come from the board maker giving lower price to the vendor or it'll come from the added price the vendor charge to the buyer? If I remember correctly Geon previously shared the comparison of the production cost and the price he gonna selling the board, and he's operating at thin margin. Might be one of reason why no vendor (at least for several first runs).

Normally that comes from the vendor selling it at a higher price.

But it also has to do with the price Geon wants to see the board sold for in a way.

And yes, working with such a thin margin is most likely one of the reasons it has no EU vendor.

Those future colors look very exciting! Especially purple and burgundy. Great how accessible this board will be! Bit confused by the PCBs though, are the 4 listed options that we will be able to purchase? Or are those pre-existing pcbs that are compatible? If the former is true, great to see hotswap and even RGB  :D

Proxy doesnt mean you pay same amount, vat is added anyway. I dont see the point of having proxies...
The point is not having to deal with customs paperwork yourself (in some cases even having to go physically somewhere for this because beaurocracy and paper-pushers) and usually some lower taxes (afaik Germany and some other countries have a lower customs tax for computer parts than others, which means the added cost to the keyboard itself will be lower compared to paying the tax in your own country).

And don't forget tariff errors : I paid tariff for an Austin sent by IlumKB because Louis didn't put the right nomenclature. In fact he didn't put anything else than "Aluminium KEYBOARD Case" so DHL instead of retaining the reference "Keyboard" (0% tariff) retained "aluminium" (6% tarifff) : 7616999099.

Please think about ISO users, add a split left shift to your "alice style" keyboards

Check the PCB options, there seems to be hotswap options, and options with RGB too. (Unless I am misinterpreting something)
