Some geekhackers from Germany said there is no 'gift option'. Has it something to do with avoiding customs fees?
If not, how is that handled?
ps: Sorry for these stupid questions.
Paypal gives the option for the sender to pay the PayPal fees if it is a gift funded by debit/credit; if funded by bank account or PayPal balance, gift transactions have no fees whatsover.
If the gift option isn't available, the recipient bears the cost of fees.
As WhiteRice is doing this pretty much at cost, any fees would stack up quickly.
My fees on $104 were ~$4. It may be different if you are paying in an alternate currency.
You can
Calculate this out.For instance, one set of keycaps ($49) with an international booster ($10) and international shipping ($14) is $73.
If paid from Germany -> USA in DOLLARS, you would send $76.27 to get $73 across the border.
The advanced calculator indicates a Germany (EURO) to US (USD) payment sent to a personal account with a low sales volume would require the German sender to send €54.09 to get $73 USD to WhiteRice.
