problem with that is some of the payments are in the hundreds and if i send something like for example first class mail and the item is keyboard keycaps it doesn't really make sense that it's only 1-2 oz, of course they can't say much unless the sender of the money complains, but not really sure if i want to go ahead and take that route.

That's crap - is there anything we can do to help or would it just bring unwanted attention?

Nah it's fine, nothing anyone can do now :(

I'll just wait the 4-5 weeks and see how it pans out once i ship out those 11 people's packages and see if the let me off, if they don't I wait 6 months to get back my $2,000 and in the meantime can't buy anything online :thumb:

How do we avoid this in the future?  How is 7bit planning on avoiding this?  I heard a similar thing happened to the guy who wrote minecraft and he had over 600k in there!

We can't what we're doing is against PayPal TOS, though they really should look into this as every major forum has GBs

Does accepting gift payments have anything to do with it?

paypal doesn't let you take payments for preorders.

if you're going to sell something, you better have it on hand ready to ship.

but gb don't work that way, and paypal is full of idiots.

Nope, it's just a mass amount of payments they just want to see where im getting my inventory from which I have SP's invoice and they just want to know im shipping out my items hence the 11 tracking they want to see.

With that said I still have a bad feeling they will keep me limited even if i give them all the info they want.

I'm so sorry to hear the problems you are having with this Group Buy.  If you can't sort this mess out with Paypal, then please keep my amount I paid as compensation for all your hard effort in trying to get this off the ground.

Maybe in the future it now spells an end to Group Buys in general.........but who knows?

Anyway, Tsangan, thanks for everything you tried to do.  I really do appreciate it.

Nah everything is paid for already thankfully, we're just waiting on the keys to come in and then i ship out :)

GB is still good, just that I have to spend $2,000 out of my own pocket since PayPal locked all the funds I was going to use on shipping

The hell. . . . Really I'm sorry to hear that @@. Wonder if there is any alternative way of payment instead of keep getting all the BS from PP. . .

I'd be happy to resell my group buy, for an appropriate price.

It cost me about $65 (base plus tenkey)... so add the "ignored the thread for several weeks" tax, compensate for inflation and the collectible aspect... and you get about US$400.  I accept all major currencies.

If they want to go after anyone for selling goods they don't have, I bet half of eBay qualifies-- particularly any of the "we're in Hong Kong and probably were just a post-office box that  just ship things out once we collect enough orders to justify ordering a case from the real manufacturer"

unfortunately, this is why they have these silly rules.

alternatives: amazon payments, google payments, kickstarter, using seed money from somewhere to start pre-buying inventory. am i missing anything?

In my experience, Dealextreme ships things as far as 3 weeks after getting my money. I bet they don't have the items when I placed the order.

great idea! next time anybody wants to pay for a group buy, be sure to choose "SERVICES", not "GOODS".

when you need to change it let me know, domestic shipping takes 2-3 days international takes 6-10 days

estimated shipping time is useless as it's estimated and if you provide me the address and for some reason it is ahead of schedule then what happens?

I mean the estimate time that the key will be available to be shipped because I'm kind of moving around this summer but still stay in the US. thanks tsangan

June?

Since it's domestic literally just PM me a week before you move, when the keys are done should be insignificant, if i tell you June 12th and you provide me with new address but for some reason they come earlier and I ship to new address that would not be good.

Cool, Thanks. I'll be sure to do that. I was really trying to get one from the group buy so the price would be reasonable. I'll be watching like a hawk!
