I just lubed my stabilizer and now the stabilizer keys feel mushy, is it because I overlubed or is this normal?  I used http://elitekeyboards.com/products.php?sub=access,misc&pid=mechlube

And if I overdid it, how long till it will feel good again? Or should i try and clean up the lube?

May I know which kind of stabilizers you have?
I suppose you have Cherry Stabilizers, then maybe you need to use it awhile until it is break-in the high viscosity of Mech lube 1. If you lube it too much, then you may need to use a brush to clean it a bit.

Select Black from the dropdown.

"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

And before anyone says otherwise, yes, this is keyboard related.

What size wire is used for key pullers?

I have made several from the large size paper clips, but commercial ones have thinner wires. Maybe half the diameter of large paper clip wire. But small paper clips don't work because the wire is so flimsy, although they would fit between keys much better.

Pullers made from guitar strings used to be pretty popular.

I did not answer your actual question, sorry, I don't know.

I could not get it to show me a photo, but there are at least 3 different case styles of IBM M-122s, and Unicomps may be different, too. If you have a metal badge on the right, it is almost sure NOT to work.

No, both shifts would fit. Only the bottom row wouldn't fit, e.g. spacebar, x2 Ctrl, x2 Winkey, Menu and x2 Alt.

What size wire is used for key pullers?

Just measured my TechKeys puller. The diameter I measured with my calipers is .035".

You probably overlubed your Costar Stabilizers. Take the keys off, and wipe away some of the lube.

Nah, just checking out some threads. What I wanted to know was the part about "兼容原厂101键位RGB" and "使用101键位的电路板". What does he mean by that?

If I understand correctly, he's basically saying it fits 1.5x Winkeyless RGB keycaps. Google translate gives me this translation:

Quote
101 key compatible with the original 101-bit keys using RGB and board

So he's saying it fits the original WKL RGB sets. 101 is Winkeyless, 104 is with Winkey.

Hmm, I'll just shoot them an e-mail then.

For most questions Unicomp, it's usually best to email them with questions.

After you guys see what I have planned I am sure people would be willing to spend a touch more for a completed piece.  They will be truly unique.

And thanks CPTBadass for that dimension.

I will get some wire ordered.

I liked the one I owned, I just didn't care for Salmon Alps and sold it. I really like the Apple Alps boards in general though. And the M0116 I bought was a really good price. I think I paid $15-20 shipped from eBay for it.

Is the Apple M0116 any good?

I liked the one I owned, I just didn't care for Salmon Alps and sold it. I really like the Apple Alps boards in general though. And the M0116 I bought was a really good price. I think I paid $15-20 shipped from eBay for it.
Thanks for the input! :thumb:

Oh I should also say I really liked the layout as well. And you're welcome. I sold it to fohat.digs who may also have some input as well if he seems this :D.

I sold it to fohat.digs who may also have some input as well if he sees this.

I stripped it for the switches and keys. I just can't abide weird layouts, even on an 87 I am constantly reaching for the numpad. Especially numpad Enter, that is my most-used key over there.

My plan is to transplant switches and keys into a Dell AT101W (with infill from elsewhere, of course) to make something that I can really use with pleasure.

Thanks! So do the other OTD boards like the 456gt or the KMAC/2 support such layouts? Or is it just the 356mini?

Most customs come in Winkeyless (WKL) or Winkey layouts. You can pick usually. WKL seems more popular. I didn't read the whole thing you posted. Usually 101 key = ANSI WKL and 104 key = ANSI winkey.

84 = WKL w/ blockers
86 = WKL w/o blockers
87 = Winkey

I'll make this easier for you cap: http://www.pcwaishe.cn/thread-460297-1-1.html

I just need to know why he chose the 356mini over the other OTD boards(except the 456gt). He has both plus a KMAC 2 but the mini is what I'm interested in.

Why am I reading the thread for you? That's not making it easier for me. Here's the thread in through Google Translate. Does that help you?

Edit: yab says in the beginning why he likes the 356 mini. He likes the layout of the 356 mini over the KMAC2.

Because the price is not expensive, is no WIN key, short does not meet their requirements, so did not go to buy

Since I mainly play the old original keyboard when holding the metal keyboard dispensable psychological

For me, I need a 86 keys, compatible with the original 101 key bits RGB, with WIN buttons, 356 Series Keyboard

Just an FYI, yab8433408 aka Dragonbro is one of the longest active, most experienced, highest end users for mechanical keyboards in the world, any kustom you can think of he probably has possession of..

Also, if you're just asking for translations here in this thread, it's probably not the best place honestly

Right, unless there's a person who speaks really good Chinese *and* English and is actively reading this thread, you're not going to get a really accurate answer other than what I can glean from Google Translate.

Actually I'm fluent in 5 different languages, including Chinese. Reading the thread wasn't the problem for me, understanding what the terms meant was. Plus, Google Translate can't understand context, so there's that.

This should be:

It's either too expensive, or because it's WKL, they don't satisfy my personal (keyboard)needs, that's why I didn't get them. And since I usually only go for old(?, I'm guessing vintage) cherry boards, it didn't matter whether I had custom aluminium boards or not.  As for me, I just need a 86key board that's able to fit original 101key RGBs, not WKL and from the 356 series. But looking at most of them, none fit the description.[/qoute]

Wait, did I just answer my own question? What are the RGB sizes for a 101 US standard layout?

I can't read Chinese so I can't find the terms for you...it would really help if you could just isolate the terms you needed help with them post them instead of having me read a whole thread in a language I can't read and then is ruined with Google Translate.

1.5x

What size wire is used for key pullers?

I have a wire key puller. I will get a caliper on it later today and give you a Guage.

Thanks swill, actual dimension works better than gauge.  The site I get material from sizes by inch dimension.

Sorry for the delay.  I got a measurement of .8mm on the wire on my filco puller.  That would be 0.0315" in standard.

I'll take a wild guess that it's a Honeywell or a IBM beamspring board. I have no substantiation for that guess at all.
