Is there a way to switch \| and ~` on the HHKB? I've looked in Karabiner, but didn't find anything.

i thought AutoHotKey could do that kind of stuff?
(sorry if i'm wrong, never used it myself.)

Looks like that's windows only :\

KeyRemap4MacBook?
i found this: http://matthewpalmer.net/blog/2014/01/19/remap-keyboard-keys-caps-lock-os-x-mavericks/

sorry if it's nothing :D

Nah, Karabiner is the stuff, it's just possible you have to write your own rule about that... Give me half an hour...

Yeah, go to Misc & Uninstall in Karabiner, click 'open private.xml', rightclick the file and open in textedit, and replace the contents with this. This will give you a new rule which you can toggle.

Code: [Select]
<?xml version="1.0"?>
<root>
  <item>
    <name>Swap backslash and backtick</name>
    <identifier>private.swap_backslash_and_backtick</identifier>
    <autogen>__KeyToKey__ KeyCode::BACKQUOTE, KeyCode::BACKSLASH</autogen>
    <autogen>__KeyToKey__ KeyCode::BACKSLASH, KeyCode::BACKQUOTE</autogen>
  </item>
</root>

Can you render CAD files?
Yes
How?
Dunno you'll have to look it up. Depends on the program. You might have to import it into a rendering software or your cad package might have it built in.

Hello, does anyone feel HHKB silenced modded keys as scratchy?
I have on some keys, some keys producing a little friction at light pressure
When you bottom-out, it tends to be absorbed
It annoys me because i have an inconstant feeling on all keys
Some keys dont have detectable frictions while others do
Btw i m using landing pads
I thought it was spring+dome alignment but i aligned several times and still have this scratchy feeling
I also did inverting sliders into another housing

Reasonable amount to pay for a one piece, anodized aluminium case? Trying to work out numbers but don't know how much people would pay.

Depends on the case. They've been seen as cheap as $60 for a simple one, but they can be much more expensive.

Maybe this is a dumb question, or has been asked 1001 times before, but are fancy metal cases just for looks, or do they affect the feel of the keyboard in some way too?

It depends on the numbers sold as far as I'm aware too - are there figures around for cases sold such as the Duck Eagle/Viper? What's the most expensive one that has been sold?

More sturdy etc, but mainly looks for most.

Feel, weight, resonance, looks can all affected to varying degrees.

The case is just one part of a multifaceted system that affects typing feel and sound.  Other factors that affect both feel and sound are, dampening material between case and plate/pcb mounts, desk surface, size and mass of desk, anything between case and desk, case material, case construction details, PCB or not, thickness of PCB, material of plate, thickness of plate, springs, stems, lube, and even sound acoustics play a larger part than what a lot of people realize.

Is there a quick and dirty way to tell which end of a 1n4148w resistor is which (besides the label). A large number of the ones I received from winkeyless appear to have had the labels melted off.

The weighting may be different between springs.

Domes, not springs.  Springs are the same.

Also, HHKB is plastic plate and PCB, other Topre boards have a metal backplate that affects the feel.

Is that because of the price or that they tend not to fulfill orders? Is there anywhere else that sells them new?

They have a long history of not fulfilling, but recently some people have had good experiences. Most of us who have been around here a long time don't feel it's worth the risk, but to each his own.

I will say that I emailed them a couple of months ago and they were very helpful. But a bad reputation is a hard thing to overcome.

What are diodes and resistors used for in a PCB?

These are really basic descriptions: Diodes are used for the matrix to avoid conflicts when multiple keys are pressed and to by-pass the need for blocking to be programmed into the controller. They needed to be soldered for a key to work, otherwise a connection won't be made. It acts as a one-way jumper.

Resistors are used to lower the current and voltage of the circuit so it doesn't burn out the LEDs.

No drilling is required. You can swap everything including the stabilizer housings.

However, you're pretty much stuck using Topre spacebars after it's all said and done. The FC uses a 6u space bar with a centered stem, while Cherry 6u spacebars are off-centered.

No drilling is required. You can swap everything including the stabilizer housings.

However, you're pretty much stuck using Topre spacebars after it's all said and done. The FC uses a 6u space bar with a centered stem, while Cherry 6u spacebars are off-centered.

Oh yea almost forgot about spacebar. Well that means I'm stuck with either black or white sets.

Thanks for the answer :)

I'm looking for cherry keyboards that uses mx compatible mounts. To scavenge keycaps.

Surely cherry my switches are compatible, at least for the non stabilized keycaps.
What kind of mount do the non mx my cherry keyboards use?

AFAIK, only Cherry MY can be used with MX (MX isn't even MY compatible).

I have Topre artisans but no Topre board.

Is there a converter/slider that will allow Topre caps to fit on MX switches?

I know, of course, that the reverse is possible.

The full sets are compatible. IIRC most MY boards use something like a costar stab

The best bet is to trade for MX or try to get a hold of a Novatouch and some Topre sliders.

Sounds like you need some Topre keychains. ;)
