Hearthstone Officially Released
« on: Wed, 12 March 2014, 02:41:34 »
Any other GHers play Hearthstone? It's not the most keyboard intensive game, but I'm enjoying the hell out of it so far.

Yeah, it's a fun and relaxing game.

Perfect for doing other things on the side like browsing Geekhack  :p

Unfortunately they introduced countless new bugs in the release version so it's basically unplayable right now...

I watch more than I play, remarkably. I prefer arena to constructed, so I mostly do casual for the gold, then buy arena runs, then repeat.

You need to include the hashtag after your name because Hearthstone names aren't unique.

Any other players here still serious about the game? I wouldn't mind organizing some tournaments and such.

Hey, it looks like you are new here, so people hopefully will take it easy on you, but people flip **** when you necro a thread, especially an old one. You might have better luck posting about Hearthstone here:

Hey I searched through a few Hearthstone related posts and this had the most interest. I also thought that Hearthstone would be big enough to deserve it's own thread :P.

On a side note, I also have contacts of many pro players so we can do some exclusive Geekhack event if anyone is interested.

As a MTG player, it was fun and interesting, but the lack of being able to shuffle my hand (my personal habit for relaxing in game) combined with the slower gameplay (and slower plays by opponents) really irritates me. It's like, I don't mind waiting for my opponent if I can shuffle my hand physically - but without that I start really noticing how long it takes my opponent to run their turns.
Someday somebody will best me, but it won't be today, and it won't be you.

I had a show running once. Didn't notice my turn came up until the fuse was lit lol. Felt bad for the other guy so I stopped doing that...

I like hearstone as a side game.
Mostly play it when watching show that don't require a lot of attention or during league queues.
But the RNG and the balance make it unbearable to me past 2-3 games a day.

That's happened to me once or twice, but I pretty much always multitask, so I 've gotten good at it.

Yea . I just played 3 games.. won 1, lost 2..

Their cards are way better...

Also, why are they matching me up with people with way better cards.. what's the point of the matching system..

Restore 6 health for 2 mana, that's so BS..

Yo wtf..

Is there a mode, where all the cards are unlocked.. and you just build the deck and play?

How rare are the good cards..

How long does it usually take to get all the cards?

A long time.  There is no mode that unlocks all of the cards for you.  Arena will get you on a more even playing ground, but you'll still be at a disadvantage if you don't have a good understanding of card/class/deck synergies.

I just found this:

http://www.demilich.net/metastone/about.html

You could at least theorycraft in there; it looks to be similar to what Apprentice was for MTG/Pokemon TCG

you gotta griiiiiiiiind.
this is why bots were pandemic pre-GvG release. it sucks to not have good cards. botting basically gives you a pack a day + slightly more if you get the quest finished.
i made i made seperate accounts to bot on and the only thing i lost by getting a three month slap on the wrist were my golden portraits. kept all the cards i'd opened and all my gold :D

i've already given all those accts to friends though or i'd give you one of them.

priest has by far the best basic deck because of removal and mind control.

Problem on heartstone is that the only option to "farm cards" is too spam arena and always get 6+ wins (which is hard to do for a beginner).
you get 10 gold for 3 normals wins, and  a average 60gold daily quest, so it's slow.
In about 2-3 months you can have one competitive deck(the cheap one that don't require a lot of rare cards).
Then you'll slowly start stacking up cards to make another deck.

This is like heroin.. you try it once.. and you're hooked...

More addictive than Dota for sure.. because at least Dota has a learning curve..

HearthStone is just 1+1 2+2 7-4  and  pretty colors..

Americas..

But my deck is no where near competitive with ya'll right now..

My cards are so ****ty, I rely on mostly 1-2 gem right now to get a quick start, basically my late game is just not there.. I don't have the heal spells to draw that far into the deck.. ..

Play face hunter, It's my higher win rate deck while being the cheapest.
I prefer to play freeze mage by a larg margin, but games are longer and win rate lower.

Well if you like the game you could treat it like a retail game and invest ~60$ into packs.

That will give you enough decent cards to build better decks. If you want all the playable cards you'd have to open about 300 Classic packs though plus another 100 for GvG. The Naxxramas Adventure is also a must have if you want to play competively.

I've managed to abstain from the addiction..  But I've only ever enjoyed 1 maybe 2 other things as fantastic as Hearthstone..
