Ergo RH mouse upgrade!
« on: Sun, 21 September 2014, 07:58:14 »
Howdy all,

So recently my G500's LMB switch is starting to spaz, registering very rapid double clicks, so it's pasture time. I've been doing a bit of research into mice now and there is quite a wealth of information here (thanks guys!). Back in 2011 when I bought the G500 I just literally selected the most reviewed mouse on Newegg and rolled with it.

There are some things I like about it. I really like its ergo grip but for me it's not conducive to palming. I still tip grip it; I never found its back high enough? I actually had to learn to use a normal mouse pad because the POS wrist rest gel pad I used forever + tip grip on the G500 = extreme carpal, only took a year to figure that out. But I digress.

After reading the guide here, I'm not entirely sold on the optical > laser debate but I have been looking at two opticals that seem nice: Steelseries Rival and the Roccat Kone *. Anyone have tips for someone moving away from the G500? Unlike keyboards I'd like this to be a one-and-done! As for its use, I do steadily game but am not crazy about sensitivity settings. In fact, I just turned off native acceleration on the G500 and my pointer seizes across the screen! I guess I should get use to it.

I also use an Artisan Hien L in wine red. Absolutely love that pad!

Yeah, I'm not going to ditch it, but I think after 3 years I'd like to try something else. That and my DIY projects are slow to complete; my Phantom is still patiently waiting, what, 18 months in?

the Mionix Naos 7000 is pretty hard to do anything but palm with IME. not sure if you have larger or smaller hands though, but I also gripped the G500/G400 etc fingertip grip. couldn't palm it either... not that I use palm grip though.
