Wifi not working on Droid smartphone

I have a Droid Razr Maxx HD and the wifi just stopped working out of nowhere 2 days ago. It says it's connected and has a strong signal, but it's obviously not working. I haven't installed any recent updates, changed any settings, haven't even left the apartment, The wifi was working fine just a few hours prior, I picked it up to look at email, and it just never worked again. Baffling. The only way I can access online programs is through a mobile tether which destroys my data usage for the month. The 4G wireless does not work either when I step outside.

I've tried:
Turning it off and on again
Forgetting current then scanning new wifi signals
Clearing cache of all apps
Turing off/on bluetooth (apparently this works sometimes)
turning off/on airplane mode (apparently this works sometimes)
Using a different wireless router
Using a different connection
Resetting the router and modem
Removing SIM card
Contacting Verizon (useless, connected me to Samsung)
Contacting Samsung (beyond useless, time better spent punching my own face)


The only thing I haven't tried yet is a hard reset, and many reports say it won't help so I'm not inclined to do it. Any ideas or people who have suffered a similar problem, please let me know any solutions you may have because it's starting to affect my productivity.

wifi chips burn out.... time for new phone..

FINALLY got it working again. Didn't really do anything, just reset my router like I have half a dozen times before and it decided to let wifi work again.
No idea what was wrong, no idea what exactly fixed it.

My Droid Razr Maxx HD wifi has had a mind of its own lately. Tried connecting to a network the other day and it just cycled the wifi on and off all on its own, finally was able to tell it to forget the network between cycles and it stopped.
