Itchy balls
« on: Sun, 19 October 2014, 23:52:41 »
My balls have been itchy for about the past 9 months, and I can't figure out why. Doc said it's not fungal/bacterial and I tried both Lotriman and Lamisil anyway. Tried apple cider vinager. Tried showering/ball scrubbing 4-6x a day. Don't see anything crawling around down there either (checked very carefully.) And haven't changed my laundry detergent brand in years. Can anybody figure out why my balls are so goddamn itchy, because the doc has no clue?

I'm thinking that you trim your scrotum hairs too often, or you go on masturbation binges.  Your balls might be itching for more if that's the case.  Fordyce Spots problems or blackheads in that area could also be the cause, especially if they are so deep that you can't clean them out.

masturbation binges

Mystery solved!

But seriously, I think it might be a mild cotton allergy because the same thing happens on my waist and underarms. No rash or redness, just itchy in sensitive areas that touch clothing. Especially with freshly washed clothes.

Have you just consulted a general doctor or did you visit a specialist? I would try to get the opinion of an dermatologist, as my first guess would be some allergic reaction from the skin.

Just a regular physician. No health care, so I try to cover all my ailments in a single visit once a year.

I always forget about healthcare system and costs of specialist when dealing with non-Belgians.

First of all, showering or scrubbing 4-6 a day will not improve anything, it is just worse for your skin as you are dehydrating your skin by removing essential oils for the skin.
Secondly, I would start testing another laundry detergent, it will be cheaper to test then buying new clothes. Look for some hypoallergenic detergent and try it.

Otherwise I wouldn't know, I'm not a specialist. I had some rash after I moved to another city and the municipal water wasn't the same as I was used to. I tried a filter, which helped, but the best thing was some moisturizing oil after a shower. I had a dry skin and where my clothes had the possibility to shave, my skin would get rashes.

Edit: Also my wife changed all shower gels to biological ones (weleda is the brand), this also made it better for me.

1. change pants to non-cotton.
2. stop shaving balls.
3. stop wanking.

1 and 2 are optional.

I always forget about healthcare system and costs of specialist when dealing with Americans.

Its one thing to be vulgar but another thing completely to go out of your way to be vulgar for no reason, then ur just wasting energy better spent being vulgar with a purpose.

Change your laundry detergent to the mildest one possible (e.g. Nellie's All Natural) or just laundry soap and washing soda (sodium carbonate). Switch to pure soap with no additives (e.g. Dr Bronner's) for showering, instead of chemical detergents. Stop wearing underwear (seriously). Wash your bed linen at least once a week at a minimum of 60 degrees Celsius; once in a while wash them at 90/95 degrees; wash your towels in this manner as well. Wash your regular clothes at 40 (no "eco" washes that use lower temperatures) - apart from clothes that specifically state otherwise, obviously. Add an extra rinse cycle to all your laundry loads. Tumble dry your clothes until completely dry, or hang outside if it's dry and sunny and you have low air pollution levels (no drying clothes on indoor racks, towel rails, etc.).

Do that for a few weeks, and see if you make any progress. If you're still having trouble, keep doing this but also sparingly apply hydrocortisone cream to the itchy areas once or twice a day.

Noisy - here is my advice.  I am serious, as I don't joke around about people's health.

First, make an appointment with a dermatologist.  I suspect one of two things is going on:  (1) Yeast infection.  It's not just for vaginas.  Yeast is on your skin.  It's just a fact of life.  And it can "bloom" into an itchy rash-like condition, especially anyplace dark and warm.  Your doctor can prescribe something like Ciclopirox cream to kill it.  You just have to put it on twice a day, and shower every day.  You need something like Ciclopirox (there are other options too), that is not just anti-fungal, but also anti-yeast as well.  If it's not a yeast infection, then it's another problem that is harder to solve.  (2) You may have had a fungal infection that you've killed off already.  The problem remains because you have an "itch-scratch" syndrome.  Your body remembers the itching, so you scratch, then the skin becomes irritated and itches, so the cycle continues.  The only solution is to stop scratching.  No matter how much it itches, you can't scratch.  If you were in a hospital they would tie your hands to the bed.  Literally.  So that you won't scratch at night in your sleep, or near-sleep.  You'll have to figure out a way to stop scratching.  It sucks, but that's the way it works.  Anyway, good luck!  If you're current doctor can't figure it out, get another doctor.  Or yeah, a corticosteroid cream can help with the itching.

It sounds to me like you are washing/shaving them too often so that the skin gets too dry.
I would try using an after-shaving balm or some other kind of gentle skin cream regularly. I have only seen after-shaving balms intended for your face but I think there are varieties also especially for private parts.

Sometimes I have this problem, and it's usually because they're just too dry. Apply lotion.

Try going with scent free soaps and detergents for a while. I use Live Clean brand, which is also hypoallergenic! Ftw. I don't even get armpit stench anymore.

oh yeah, i forgot about this
I have sensitive skin too and i don't use normal soap for bathing anymore.  I use the Cetaphil cleansing bar and that helped with my skin.
