Android wear vs Pebble?
« on: Tue, 28 October 2014, 15:12:11 »
Been looking to get a smart watch for a change, or maybe not... Are they really worth it, and what would normally be a better platform?
I know pebble is E-ink which makes it really easy to see in sunlight, not too sure about the LG Watch R, it looks pretty cool, but battery life kind of matters to me.

Pebble gets up to 7 days according to pebble, the watch R is said to get 2 days, which considering what is does is pretty good, and seems to be better than the moto 360... I'm always getting emails, I think about 20+ a day lol... Thread subscriptions...

What about custom watch faces?
I know that the pebble you can download some from their app store, but not too sure about android wear...

I would wait a year or so, tbh... with Apple stepping into the game next year I'm sure the market for Smart watches will greatly increase, and thus so will spending and r&d of other companies.
I think there is alot that they can offer in terms of functionality, but non of them seem to work right or that well atm... but if you really want one, I'd go with the cheaper Pebble so you can get a feel for it first...

Apple is out of the question.

I don't really know about Android and the Pebble OS... Like what kind of notifications I can get lol.

I don't mean to buy an Apple watch, I mean that when they enter the market... the market gets bigger... look at tablets, look at 'smart phones' and mp3 players..
It dsn't matter if you like Apple or not, when they enter a market, they enter it with a huge following and marketing team that means that the competition has to step up, or be forgotten.

I worry that Pebble, will be forgotten... like the Cisco Iphone was... I personally would invest in Android as the Moto360 is the most watch smart watch out there, but even thats too big... and battery issues... idk I feel like its a market that hasn't been figured out yet

we need "self winding" smart watches
60% keyboards, 100% of the time.

Size isn't an issue... Coming from a g-shock I won't have any issues with any of the watches.

Why not solar powered like my g-shock is?

Have there been any spy shots of guys taking pictures of women? I imagine that this is already happening, but a watch with a camera would make it easier.

I always said that if Pebble dropped their price to $100 I would get one...so I did. I like it well enough, and it does a good job with notifications like emails, texts, and voice calls. And there are many watch faces you can choose from. In truth, it's really to hold me over until the LG G Watch R is released. But it's a nice basic smart watch, and will be a good option in my array of timepieces I wear.

I usually wear large watches, but I don't find the Pebble tiny. It's slightly smaller then what I'm used to, but the main difference is the weight. There just isn't much heft to a small eInk screen and a plastic housing. I did buy the Truffol steel band for it, though, and that vastly improves the wearing experience for me.

Have there been any spy shots of guys taking pictures of women? I imagine that this is already happening, but a watch with a camera would make it easier.

Well at least now we know why you want one. :P

time piece collection eh?

I'm still wearing my halo 2 collectors edition watch..
Get on my level... A blue spongebob watch from burger king...

Anyway, the pebble looks tiny...

hahahaha...

I feel like burger king is a bit hipster (trolling type)   but the halo watch.. I actually put a large portion of my life into the game..
I still have it somewhere..... Not kidding. I need to find it...

Halo is a great game though.

halo PC was my most played.. it was the first time I went into serious overclocking..

Then halo 2 I played for a while too, but I had to stop because of the SATs

Then I bomb the sats, and my parents got maddd...
Not excited for SATs...
They need to port all halos to PC...

If halo 3 came out for pc.. oh man.. i'd just lose it.....
Halo 3 was amazing.... Halo reach was okay, I enjoyed forge world.

I feel like 2 did the best job in weapon and matchmaking balance, but hey, just one man's opinion ;)
I miss halo 2....
Don't have an Xbox anymore lol

I've had the pebble for a year (soon). I still wear it, it's great, newest update integrates constant activity tracking (fitbit replacement).

Note look at what i just said, newest update.

It's constantly being worked on and updated b/c it is cross platform android/apple watch.

It has a vast community of devs that produce thousands of faces and hundreds of apps for it.

my watch is on almost 24/7, it's great and it WAS a 7day battery life, with the activity tracking it's now 5day by my estimation.

still better than the ****ty one day battery of everything else.
