I am using g502. I have been thinking about picking up a track ball, or other device for this game though. Wrist / hand gets kind of tired if I play too much...

This game wasn't designed with trackball in mind.

So if the trackball is controlling a cursor, it'd be hard to change directions..

It's all about managing space to account for the growing turning radius....

At 30,000 or so, Keep about 3 head width distance (measured from) other snake heads that are able to turn -INTO- your path.

At 50,000 or so, Keep 3.5-4 head width distance.

The reason Typically you don't see more than 50,000k is because Small snakes are fast enough to cut you off mid turn.

They can literally complete a circle around your head before you 180.
