TV shopping lately, size is a huge problem depending on content.
77 inch with 2.39:1 aspect ratio movies, most common these days for big movies, is only equivalent to a 57 inch screen vertically.
This is not very big at all.
65" tv = 48
83" tv = 62
97" tv = 72 (Tp4 can't afforz)
So, really, seems like we need 97" even at ~2-3 meters, IF watching 2.39:1 movies, which is alot of them.
Thoughts?

I was forced to replace both of my TVs and wanted big for the basement and nice for the upstairs. I am a die-hard Costco fiend and with % back and a 5 year warranty (which I submitted a claim 2 years and 1 day after the purchase date) so my options were rather limited.
The basement TV (Samsung 82" QN82Q6DTA) was intended to be "big and silly" as I described it to my spouse. My kids universally prefer the bigger TV despite it not having the same color or picture clarity. It's great for during the F1 season, but due to the fast movement of the picture it does get a bit blurry at times, but overall think it is good overall.
The upstairs TV (Samsung 65" QN65Q8DAAFXZA) was selected more off fitting the space and finding a display that looked as good as possible since that TV is more for my spouse and I to watch after the kids go to bed. Watching Apple TV, etc. The picture is fantastic and honestly 65" feels good for "TV watching", but is much less "cinematic" than the larger TV downstairs. I even tried to convince myself that I needed a 70-75" for upstairs but now that I have my 65" in place this is the biggest I would want it to be.
How I did the comparison was place masking tape on the wall for what the "footprint" of the TV(s) will be. This is much easier if it's wall mounted vs on a stand. Then compared different seating distances/etc to see how they "feel". One could argue that at the size you are looking for a good, used projector may be the "best" solution.
Depending on where you live if there is a good brick and mortor store that caters to legitimate home theaters more than just a 5.1 surround system they often get trade ins on both audio and video equipment. Used TVs and Projectors don't retain a lot of value, so there are deals to be had if you make nice with the employees who can alert you on new trades. It's how I found my first stereo setup. Told them I was looking for Emotiva pre/power amps, a brand they don't carry, but got in on trade. It came home with me within the week. Good luck Tp4.
