Any tenkeyless Cherry MX Clear keyboards out there?
« on: Tue, 11 June 2013, 20:24:17 »
I hate numpads, audible clicks, linear keys strokes, and 45g actuation forces. I love 55-60g actuation forces and inaudible bumps ( = Tenkeyless Cherry MX clear). Is there a keyboard for me?

I like heavy switches, but long session they are far more draining, this is a fact.

with stock clear springs, the peak tactile bump force is 63g. with 67g springs, lowers to 57g, with 62g springs, lowers to 53g

53g is a little lower than most blues at 55g peak tactile bump force.

CM Storm is going to come out with one soon.

Is there any definitive proof that this is true or are you just going by the quote that's like: "We're considering different types of switches and expect to see new switches in the future." when someone asked about Clears?

He's got some more left. Good price too.

I really wouldn't get the clears that are prebuilt, because it's so much hassle to mod....

But cheaper, yeah? $0.80 USD seems to be the common price for clears, at least that's the price I got...

you have to factor in your labor dude.. It takes a LONG time to desolder 80 switches... desoldering is extremely time consuming, and a pita in general.

You'll also need to buy a desoldering pump which is another $25 dollars.

I believe WASD is planning to release its version 2 keyboard with clear switches, and TKL (as per OP request). Also looks like it has some other cool features..

yes, but the user accessible plate didn't make the features cut.. to prevent bad irresponsible criminals from opening the switches improperly and blaming wasd keyboards for faulty board.

It was 7-Bits buy and I already paid so that sucks for me then. At this point I'd just be happy if I get the switches at all, it's been almost 3 weeks.

One of their representatives confirmed they'll be releasing a keyboard with clears IIRC. STFW

TG3-82.

Using one at work, and another at home.  Bullet-proof construction, lovely tactile feel.
