cherry classic kinda ****ty

I bought this thing because it sounded alright and I wanted to test it out

I figured since it's cherry it should be nice, however it's too light, there's too much wasted plastic space around the outside, and the keycaps feel and seem rather cheap

anyone else get one of these?

too much wasted plastic space? that's what makes the 3000 line cases so great! but yeah replace those keycaps... i was not a fan of them when I got mine.

well if you swap the caps, that'll improve the feel greatly..

If you remove the feet and  put a rubber mat under it, it will also make the board feel much more rigid.

and tp4 yeah thought about swapping the caps... but then I would have to sink another 50 or so into this board, where's a good place to buy caps?

You should have bought an old Cherry board second hand. Cheaper and far better keycaps.

Ooops. Yes, never buy Cherry G80 unless it is an older one with doubleshot or dyesub keycap, or it's really cheap. The POM keycaps are not that bad, but the lasering often is. If you want it to feel less flimsy, get cheapest G81-3000 or 8000 you can, or one with doubleshots, and take the MY switches from it off it's switch plate, with thin rubber mat and place it under the G80 PCB. This goes a long way in making it feel sturdy and eliminates flex when typing.
I still feel G80-3000 is a good keyboard for general use, though most models are only 2KRO so they aren't so good for gaming and stuff.
