Peaceful demonstration
« on: Fri, 28 August 2015, 21:23:06 »
So, later today, my wife and I are going to the streets - to joined hundreds of thousands of Malaysians for a peaceful demonstration against the corrupted government. The biggest issue so far is fighting for a free voice in this so-called democracy. And of course to force our prime minister to answer to a recent "donation, he claimed" of US$700M that was deposited into his personal account. When his top officials, including his Deputy Prime Minister is calling him out, he sacked him. And also proceed to sack the Accountant General. This freak is bleeding the country dry and is getting away with it. If there is a tyrant in a banana republic, Malaysia is currently emerging as the champion. Wish me luck!

I should add: read here for Live feed from our local news

I need to come back to see my CC and V2 collection :P

Viel Glück! Always awesome to see a peaceful, thoughtful protest. The only way to create lasting peace is using peaceful means!

Yeah, except that the people are peaceful but the government is going to use force.

We are prepared to face arrest and tear gas. In the past years, this tyrant ordered tear gas to be fired onto the crowd!

The streets are now filled with army trucks and police.

Hahaha..

Nothing will change..  You're wasting your time by protesting.

That politician was merely stupid,  OR,  he was setup by powerful financial entities who wanted to oust-him OR oust his compatriots/governing group..

You'll get a new politician,  which make the exact same promises, and take the exact same oath,  Only this new one will be smarter and WORK with his paying masters and not get pushed-out in this denigrated manner..

And the cycle continues..

If you really believe, You're better, and that duty to the people is first and foremost,   You should run for office,  and stop wasting time with these protests.

Just to clarify,  The Belief towards anti-corruption is correct,   but this manner in which the voice-less populace intends to seek "CHANGE" at best will achieve the killing of a sacrificial goat..

You will have done nothing to rectify the nature of capitalism.

Stay safe.  We all know how corrupt people like to take calm protests and turn them violent.  Hopefully things don't go the way of Thailand with the protests.

Thank you. Yeah, here's hoping it doesn't get ugly. The irony is that on Monday 8/31, we are celebrating our National Independance Day - which is our independance from the British Empire of 60 years ago. We might have obtained our independance but we still fall back to tyranny on our own hands. Maybe tp4 is right after all.. I am clueless!  :( :-[

Don't listen to TP, doing something within your power is better then doing nothing and just winging about it. #Australianway

Inaction is NOT what I'm suggesting..

By all means,  if you believe yourself just, and are incorruptible.. GO DO SOMETHING..

But peaceful protest?  ... Won't work..

The Black vs White protests were NOT peaceful, not at ALL..

Nothing has ever been solved without economically costly maneuvers,  be it violence, or persistent disruption of labor/ economics (which almost always entails some violence).

peace is a really, really bloated term when it comes to 'civil matters'.

Gandhi himself may not have killed anything..  But those ruffled Indians sure did..

Again, major destruction and disruption of economic resources..

I mean tp4's a troll but he's not wrong. There were the the Harlem Riots, the Watts Riots, the Chicago Riots and the 1968 DNC. There was plenty of peaceful protest but a bunch of rioting too. Yeah most of the changes in laws happened after these riots, though that's not necessarily causative. I don't know that this is a great example of tp4tissues idiocy  ;)

Good luck!

I hope you both make it home safely.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Not in this case. Our Prime Minister is a super corrupt person, having recently swallow USD$700M of tax payers money into his own account, claiming it's a donation from a Arab tycoon. Even if it's a donation, we are demanding to know who is this Arab tycoon and what influence will he have over the country in future. Besides, isn't a donation to a high ranking government personnel itself is a definition of corruption?
