The demise of What.cd
« on: Sun, 27 November 2016, 18:26:56 »
What.cd is gone. Quite possibly the largest library of music ever created is gone forever. I hope this isnt against the rules but this is huge. I highley doubt any other tracker will be able to fill the shoes of what.

Illegal Activities - Do not discuss, suggest, engage, or encourage any ILLEGAL ACTIVITIES. Links provided to locations that deal with any such activity will be turned over to the proper authorities. Any discussion of, or reference to, obtaining; handling; and/or using narcotics and/or illegal use of prescription medications are expressly prohibited (for purposes of this clause, cannabis by-products not relating to industrial use are considered a narcotic).  Discussion of pirating games, movies, and/or software content obtained through mediums, such as using peer-to-peer networks - torrenting, specifically - is prohibited and will earn a warning and/or loss of posting privileges.

Copyright Protected Material - Observe all copyright laws, EULA's, TOS's and NDA's when posting copyrighted material. If the material belongs to someone else, credit the original author and include a link to the original source, if possible. Do not post messages that violate Federal, State, or Local laws which include, but are not limited to, anything that violates a copyright, trademark, patent, trade secret, or is bound by NDA (Non-Disclosure Agreement).

It is against TOS. I think as long as discussion doesn't devolve into where to go next and alternatives, you will be fine.

Hilariously enough another tracker that was championed as a replacement (shall not be named) went out a bang before it even started! Every user was made and admin after someone hacked an admin account. Throughout its short existance people were weary about their lack of concern about opsec. LOL

I generally hate all keycaps. Keycaps are for poofs. Real men touchtype on stems. Non-functional artisans are awesome, I use them for the ESC key ... escape is for cowards anyways, real men go frontal assault.

Do Chinese make good electronic music? I was always dissapointed that I never heard anything Japanese that was akin to cEvin Key, AFX, or Autechre. I would have thought so due to their seemingly techno culture.

I really like Phil Western's stuff as well.

We don't have refined iterations of electronic techno ,, YET..  the kids in China have only recently been able to afford the equipment to play with this sort of thing.

Aren't they the ones who manufactured it in the first place?

Well, income has only risen in the past 20 years.. so.. as far as kids playing with this stuff.. it's very recent.

Interesting! did you play on domes?

That reminds me of my old XBOX live friends that formed a no-scoping clan in COD MW. those were the days.

Oh yeah, was well before my discovery of sweet, sweet mechanical keyboards. I thought all keyboards were the same, and mice were where the action was. Oh how wrong I was. Forgot about clans, I was a part of a small forum for a clan I was in before CAL which was a lot of fun!

Never saw much of a mechanical presence on what.cd though, I looked about a month back and found like two small old threads that didn't amount to much. The personalities of the PU and Elite boards were funny though. Drugs on PU, sex on the Elite board. I imagine TM must have been rock n' roll hahaha.

I was only there a short time and never really looked at the forums. Funny thing is that it appears that several members of GH were also on what. small world i guess.
