I would have thought most pre-Quantum stuff that might have affected speed in the latest versions would be incompatible anyway. :thinkingonionhead:

Tp4 still on version 51,  pre quantum..

Still use some extensions that one refuses to give up.

My web is very minimalist though, so I don't have many issues with graphical slow downs.

Most of my slow downs must've come from idiopathic accumulations of background processes.

I'm on v54 pre-Quantum (Dev ver tho) both because most of my addons don't have replacements (and the UI of NoScript is atrocious in the Quantum version, worse than even NoScript alternatives on Chrome) and as you can no longer alter the chrome of the browser (which I do to change the theme and toolbar icons).

You and I are among the last hold-outs. Stay strong!

At this point, I think probably i could use ff51 for another 20 years at least..

I'll have to use other browsers for shopping and such,  but it's reached pots and pans status..  it just works,   no need to upgrade..

Honestly, the latest firefox is much faster than Chrome and the new screenshot feature is really nice. Still not as good as Microsoft Internet Web Explorer though.

You don't have to wipe everything to refresh Firefox (or waterfox/palemoon/newmoon.

Find the data folder:
Windows:
C:\Users\{username}\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Profiles\{profile id}\
Mac
Library/application support//Firefox/Profiles/{profile id}
Linux
/home/{username}/.mozilla/firefox/{profile id}

Profile ID may have a .default extension on it. For Firefox forks, replace Mozilla with fork's name, so instead of Mozilla, look for waterfox, palemoon, etc... and there may or may not be a "profiles" folder, some go straight to unique ID folder. Some do not.

Make a backup of everything
just in case, then delete all but:
Cookies.sqlite   (cookies)
formhistory.sqlite   (form fields)
key3.db.txt    (may also be a 4 or 5)
places.sqlite   (bookmarks and history)
sessionstore.js  (last session)
signons.sqlite   (logins and passwords)

There also maybe .bak files (backups) and revisions or repaired files, such as the key4.db. You can ignore the .bak files, but you want to retain the revisions.

If you want to retain your search settings:
searchplugins directory
search.json

The most important files to get rid of is:
prefs.js
Anything plugin related.

If you messed it up and and didn't make a backup, that's on you.
Also, plugins will lag Firefox like you cannot believe, especially video download plugins. Weather apps are also known to leak data.
