Building my Own Rice Cooker
« on: Sat, 07 February 2015, 03:31:53 »
So...  guys..

I've run into a problem with cooking ma wice..

The "Question"..

Which -microcontroller- controller would ya'll recommend that could control multi-stage induction coils  AND have room for multiple temp sensor feedback.

Also

If I could eventually narrow it down to just 1 set of coils and a few temp sensors..

--Which microcontroller would you recommend in "this" ^^^^ case..

Basically, Even if I get the liquid ratio perfect in theory..

The waterline will drop below the rice itself, which ultimately makes the bottom rice slightly m0re wet than the top rice..

So I've reasoned to build my own rice cooker as a fun project.

Super Thanks

If you once use a Zojirushi, you will never want to use anything else. They are the best! I was given one by my sister about 10 years ago. I use it at least twice a week and it shows no signs of trouble.

Google "arduino sous vide"  that may be a decent starting point

Yea.. I was considering the $1000 rice cooker with the clay pot insert thing...

But I Looked at that design and I think I can improve on it..

So..

you think arduino is enough for this ?   I need to control multiple sets of coils..

The arduino should only trigger things. I'd use a relay shield or other shield to actually control things.

I don't think Atmel and Microchip know anything about rice. Renesas knows.
