Lunch today was an avocado, a banana, and an apple. I also had some Brazil nuts (YUM!). Doing this veggie/fruit thing primarily is hard, but it's made me feel quite a bit better. I've been cheating a bit lately since I've been on a business trip and I certainly feel a difference when I've had breads/crackers, etc. compared to the last month where I've been almost exclusively fruits/veggies.
It's also ridiculously expensive to eat healthy...
But i suppose if you count potential medical savings from a healthier body.. eh.. who's counting.
It's not where I live. Transformed foods usually cost much more than fruits, vegetables, whole grain flour/groats, beans, fish (fat fish are the best and in can can be cheap) etc. If you eat the recommended portion of meat when you don't eat substitutes and focus on chicken breast and the likes, then you realize it's not very costly. Then use some better oils (canola, olive, avocado, etc.) and make sure they are correctly stored (no sun) and you have a good base for healthy foods. And you will soon realize that this food makes you feel full with much less things you eat because they actually fill you with good stuff and your body knows it (fibers does it)!
Must depend on the price of fresh fruits/vegetables, but it should still be less than junk food. Don't tell me that a can of sardine, an apple, a banana and a whole grain groats cost more than a cheap fast food meal.
The good thing is that even if you consider that these foods don't taste good, you have the chance that your brain can easily be convinced that these foods taste good and relatively fast. Start now!
