lol seriously?
Some people don't naturally type fast, one of my teachers who previously bragged to me about touch typing and such and showed me what it was can only hit 74 WPM

I mean, I don't think at 110 WPM, so I rarely type that fast. So the extra speed is mostly a show for 10fastfingers

Everyone admiring Sifo for his mid/high-140. I'm more impressed by your ability to average that in typeracer, seems way harder to me. Very impressive.
Perhaps when I'm less exhausted I'll manage to record myself typing in the mid-150's.

I think ur using left-thumb for space bar on gaming-habit..  it accounts for 10+ % of keys..

so by switching to right-thumb for that one key you can shift (at least as far as key distribution) up to 55% left hand and 45% right hand. that's more even than something like 60-65% on the left hand for many people.

it's different in many ways..

with type racer.. you can practice the same thing over again, so you can memorize and optimize transitions..

not as easily done on 10fast..

the reason people are usually faster on 10 fast, is because the words are shorter and no punctuations which had never been practiced.

Yeah my typing position is really weird. It's a gaming position rofl. My left hand rests on wasd ctrl and spacebar and use it for most of the board while my right index finger does iopklm keys

Dvorak would definitely benefit with punctuation, because it's so much easier to reach (in the q/w/e positions for apostrophe, comma, and period respectively). Some people just aren't too good on it, maybe because it's a different type of word recognition.

Also left hand is preferable on Dvorak, because the left hand pretty much doesn't move. The right hand is better in QWERTY because the left hand is used more, so it balances load better.

I do not know why, but it went up a little in recent months. I can hit 90 on 10 fast fingers. Though this is not really my actual typing speed. I type comfortably with few mistakes at about 70-80 WPM. Though I can hit a "highscore" in those type websites of close to 100 apparently, but that is when I am really trying and I can only do that like one out of 10 tries.

Personally, I think anything above 60 WPM (one word per second) is reasonably fast.

Took the typing test and got 110.

Pros: Not a bunch of random text like 10fastfingers.

Cons: Make one mistake for a word, and all the following letters after are counted as error, causing lots of backspacing to fix a Single error.

I personally get about 125wpm through 10fastfingers.

I am surprised to see that you make 165 WPM with  95.7% Accuracy, you must type the backspace really really fast.

What happens to me is that when I realize there is a typo, I already type a few letters, then I have to push backspace to delete those letters, and it has to be exactly those letters. That slows me down a lot. Any trick for this?

Averaging 65-75 on a normal day, but my record currently sits somewhere around 86 on a QWERTY mechanical.

Going to really get into Colemak soon, so hopefully that number will go down... and the other, up...

It's a week later and I'm hitting about 55-60wpm on typeracer! Woohoo!
After a couple days I went cold turkey, which was painful at first, but definitely helpful. To anyone looking to learn, be sure to give yourself at least a full week.
Sad thing is I can't type on qwerty for sh** now lol :))

More often than not I find myself deleting whole words with alt+backspace. It's usually faster for me to retype the whole thing correctly than it is for me to try to spam backspace the correct number of times and start over half-way through the word.

I don't type 165 WPM though. More like 110-115.

Ditto on deleting the entire word. If you're looking for speed, mapping backspace to caps lock helps as well. Unless you're one of those Unix noobs who likes caps lock for control (like myself xD)

With typos: 80-90 WPM. With 100% accuracy: 110-113.

I don't really care about typing speed, but I do occasionally visit typeracer. If I try to type with super sonic speed, I just get a looooot of typos... i.e "waht, shoudl" etc... :<. I also get nervous for some reason when I feel like i'm typing really fast, so my hands starts to shake and I **** up, lol.

on 10fastfingers I got 110 WPM in my own language, but it drops significantly (to like 70) when doing other languages like English or German.

I feel like ****ing Goku when he takes off his weights. After practicing typing for like 2 weeks on an inferior keyboard I switched back to my LZ-S and bam my personal record (on a sprint race though, really short).

I also nearly got like 200+ on a race but I choked.

Camere never had a chance :(

Also, I've recently hit 93wpm from my 75 average. But it was a one time thing, I'm back to peasant 70ish.
No, he’s not around. How that sound to ya? Jot it down.

My profiles btw for those asking:

Typeracer Profile: http://data.typeracer.com/pit/profile?user=sifo
10fastfingers Profile: http://10fastfingers.com/user/519/

I am surprised to see that you make 165 WPM with  95.7% Accuracy, you must type the backspace really really fast.

What happens to me is that when I realize there is a typo, I already type a few letters, then I have to push backspace to delete those letters, and it has to be exactly those letters. That slows me down a lot. Any trick for this?

More often than not I find myself deleting whole words with alt+backspace. It's usually faster for me to retype the whole thing correctly than it is for me to try to spam backspace the correct number of times and start over half-way through the word.

I don't type 165 WPM though. More like 110-115.

I use ctrl+backspace almost always also, which is why I dislike some sites which don't allow me to do it.

Ctrl+a is faster.

it highlights, no need for backspace just start typing..

I would dispute that somewhat. My mind is more ingrained to naturally go for the backspace when I make an error, so just pressing control isn't too difficult. The only real issue that I have with using Ctrl+A is that you might actually be typing out a paper and it would delete everything, and you'd have to undo it; also, it requires a lot of wrist turning on a keyboard lower tier than the godly Ergodox.

I usually tend to hover at the 100 wpm mark, mainly due to my not being able to leave a mistake incorrect and I end up mashing backspace to fix it.
