Spent an hour messing about updating an OpenSUSE install with low disk space thanks to btrfs snapshots and temp files (1gb of downloaded updates manages to use 5+gb of space!) Still can't run the new version of EasyAVR as part(s) of Python aren't new enough.

Inputs on TVs that are almost impossible to get to once the TV is mounted on a wall: I just spent far too long squishing my head against a wall trying to get some HDMIs in - I could just about see one corner of the socket and could barely fit my hand in the gap. Curse you Sony.

Forward tip only - the wall won't take a fancy articulator.

Also enough with the "you should", thankyouverymuch. I'm the victim of bad design here.

Alternative,  Xercise until one is swole enough to hold the entire TV with one arm while plugging in the cables with the other arm.

I had some issues finding what I needed with zypper without compiling from git or sourceforge (or whatever else). I didn't have trouble setting up a script to mount a temporary 1GB ramdisk at startup for vivaldi cache though. I swear, everytime I crack open a new how to Python book I have to hunt down a new (to me) version of Python, it's almost as bad as figuring out perl module dependency issues (I'm looking at you non-current Slackware 14.2...).

Why do my days off just sort of disappear from me?
I hardly feel like I've done anything today and it's already (almost) 4PM.

I'm glad I don't live in KY anymore at this time of the season. Snow I can deal with, but I hate severe weather. I used to love filming it but being woke up at 3AM to go to the basement due to a tornado warning is annoying.

Well, unless you build out a bug out location/bunker..

There's really no use for the bug-out bag.

The bugout is suppose to take you a short distance to -Some defensible position- where it's safe and stashed with emergency gear/food.

I have three bug out bags, but they serve different purposes. I have a "get home safe" pack that I store in my backpack. It's of course not meant for long term survival, but it at least provides the necessities if the situation called for it. Has a knife, flint, matches, whistle, medkit, and light source (glow stick).

I keep a "we could get stuck in the car for a few days" kit that I store in my car. It provides many of the same items as the "get home safe" pack with the addition of extra clothing, candles, wool blankets, non-perishable food, and water. This is intended more for use in the winter where an extreme blizzard could shut down the roads for days as it has in many places over the years, though it is still useful in the summer in different circumstances.

Finally, in our home I keep a "SHTF and we're never coming back" bag, which contains many of the previous two packs plus additional gear such as fishing supplies, medicines, knives, hatchet, kukri machete, and a few other things. Intended for two people, has a secondary pack which can be used to help distribute the weight in order to lighten the load as much as possible and conserve energy and time.

I actually don't own a gun and I also don't agree with the gun laws in the United States. I wouldn't really call myself a prepper, as I don't plan every waking day thinking about what I can do to make myself safer. In fact, most of my bags are built with stuff I already had laying around that wasn't being used.  :thumb:

Does that mean everything is in there somewhere or did you have to compile?  I've switched to tumbleweed so hopefully no more huge updates but can't help wondering what's the point in going for the newest version if it's outdated.

Y'all need to give up on your incisors and canines and work on populating your face with molars and your belly with a multi-chambered gut, you omnivore pretenders. Don't you know tomatoes are basically all protein if you eat them right? And meat is actually not protein but poison and dissatisfaction?

And don't forget your Rescue Remedy, and watch for them contrails. That's how they get you.

The teeth structures are extremely different between omnivore/carnivore  vs herbivores.

And when you look at human teeth,  it's far more similar to herbivores..

Goddamnit, I can't just leave this hanging:

- Humans do not rechew and swallow their upchuck, which is how herbivores digest cellulose;
- Humans cannot digest cellulose;
- Human jaws go up and down not side to side - we crush not grind our food;
- Humans cannot digest cellulose;
- Humans eat discrete meals (as do carnivores), herbivores forage throughout the day;
- Humans cannot digest cellulose;
- Humans cannot digest cellulose;
- Humans cannot digest cellulose;

I'm with you on the horrors of mass farming, and humans eat waay too much meat, but we are not herbivores. Your focus on teeth is specious and only 10% of the story.

Humans do not rechew and swallow their upchuck, which is how herbivores digest cellulose;

You're talking about cows. which are Ruminants, it's a special type of herbivores.

NOT all herbivores are Ruminant Herbivores..

Just because humans are not ruminants, does not mean humans are not herbivores.

Humans cannot digest celluose

Again,  cellulose is another niche in evolutionary biology.

Not all herbivores need to be the same and occupy all niches..

Koalas are herbivores, and they also eat eucalyptus because they have the stomach bacteria for it..  other herbivores do not eat eucalyptus

The herbivores that CAN utilize cellulose do not digest it either, they ALSO have stomach bacteria specially adapted to process it..

It's just an ability absent to Humans

- Humans eat discrete meals

If you look at wild humans, they very much forage throughout the day.

It's important to remember that herbivore/omnivore/carnivore.

They're just words.

From the perspective of a wild human,  who has to eat calories by any means.. You can argue he's omnivorous..

Because if he HAD to eat a dead body to survive,  so be it.

But , when we're trying to be MOST HUMAN,  what's demonstrably the Best system of intake.

There is no contest,  Plant foods are best..

That's not true NT..

Omnivorous diet has its role in evolutionary history.

However, the science is very --firm-- hahaha,  that Herbivorous Nutrition is optimal

Guys, also, we don't need to argue this,  the Film_ The Game Changer_  is coming out very soon.

Leading Medical chairs, oxford/yale/harvard

Leading ATHLETES who have gone VEGAN,  (all significantly improved their performance)

All neatly laid out in a movie, backed by James Cameron..

If you're still -Omnivorous- after watching the movie..

At least, you'll be a Sober-Omnivore.. You realize you're eating for Taste to the Detriment of personal Health..

Arguing with TP is like talking to a radio.
(...)Whereas back then I wrote about the tyranny of the majority, today I'd combine that with the tyranny of the minorities. These days, you have to be careful of both. They both want to control you. The first group, by making you do the same thing over and over again. The second group is indicated by the letters I get from the Vassar girls who want me to put more women's lib in The Martian Chronicles, or from blacks who want more black people in Dandelion Wine.
I say to both bunches, Whether you're a majority or minority, bug off! To hell with anybody who wants to tell me what to write. Their society breaks down into subsections of minorities who then, in effect, burn books by banning them. All this political correctness that's rampant on campuses is b.s.

I bothered myself. We got to look over our chemistry test and at the end of class I was going to ask this cute girl if she wanted to hang out sometime but I didn't!! I'll try again on Monday.

It bothers me that I've just missed a great deal on a thinkpad that I wanted. It especially bothers me, because I recently got the exact same model but in top of the line configuration that I didn't need for three times the price.
