First day on my new job. I understood virtually nothing and have no idea how to use any of the tools at all. This is gonna go great  :thumb:

I used to move locations every few years, although doing the same thing (for the same people) I found that I had to re-learn how to do everything as everyone had different methods and ways of processing stuff.

I am sure that you will pick it all up in no time. If not, aren't you the supervisor, just fake it like half of the other supervisors that ever existed.

MUCH better 2nd day. I think I may actually be able to pull this off. They are being very kind about my lack of technical knowledge, so I think they hired me because they thought I'd make a decent manager and can pick up the skills as I go. It's ****ing working, thank goodness. It was a good day.

It has been a couple of days now. Hows it going? Fill us in.

It's actually going really damn well. I'm hiring people for my own team, I have an office. It's insane like it's all happening through a window.

To actually be challenged and constantly learning is invigorating. No idea why I was being so complacent and selling myself short all these years, this is amazing!

Appreciate you asking  :-*

That is good to hear that it is working out well, especially after all this time with no job luck.

Work. Haircut. Dinner at friends house.

Took yesterday off. Wife and I went to see a matinee showing of The Peanut Butter Falcon. Was pretty good. We both really enjoyed it despite some silly/low effort moments.

Went on a trip from 3 AM to 1PM for a robotics competition in USA. I feel a bit exhausted however i had breakfast for dinner and then breakfast.

We managed to get second place and the drive took about 4 hours. I recorded videos and footage and the stream is on twitch i think.

Colonoscopy. I have the routine down now.

As usual, the week of food restrictions and the day of prep had been worse than the colonoscopy itself, which went very smoothly. I actually find it interesting to see inside. I didn't get a glimpse this time of the waving cilia inside my small intestine: those are otherwise pretty cool.

Also ran an office-wide costume contest that weirdly went off without a single hitch.

Always go for the email option.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

An unexpected freeze decimated my garden so I brought in all my remaining basil plants and stripped them to make a big batch of pesto.

"The Trump campaign announced in a letter that Republican candidates and committees are now expected to pay “a minimum of 5% of all fundraising solicitations to Trump National Committee JFC” for using his “name, image, and likeness in fundraising solicitations.”
“Any split that is higher than 5%,” the letter states, “will be seen favorably by the RNC and President Trump's campaign and is routinely reported to the highest levels of leadership within both organizations.”"

Is that happening because of drugs.
(...)Whereas back then I wrote about the tyranny of the majority, today I'd combine that with the tyranny of the minorities. These days, you have to be careful of both. They both want to control you. The first group, by making you do the same thing over and over again. The second group is indicated by the letters I get from the Vassar girls who want me to put more women's lib in The Martian Chronicles, or from blacks who want more black people in Dandelion Wine.
I say to both bunches, Whether you're a majority or minority, bug off! To hell with anybody who wants to tell me what to write. Their society breaks down into subsections of minorities who then, in effect, burn books by banning them. All this political correctness that's rampant on campuses is b.s.

I've not had anything for over a month but the 'confusion ... may be permanent' side effect from early August is a scary possibility.  It's that or I'm dehydrated regardless of how much I drink, they're looking at that in January.

Ah, good old NHS. 'You are not dying so we'll see you in 6 months'.
I've not even got a sicknote so I suppose 3 months is pretty good, though if they don't know what's wrong with me so I need a scan how do they know I'm not dying?  Maybe I have  brain tumor causing the headache and affecting other bodily functions, they are assuming it's the other way round...

What illness
... Yes.  Something that doesn't show up in a blood test and doesn't make your guts look abnormal on an ultrasound scan but may appear on a better (CT) scan.  May also make you susceptible to infections though that could be caused by the antibiotics given for initial symptoms, as could the stupidity.   I'm not mentally retarded enough to be signed off work so they aren't taking the head aspect very seriously.

Yesterday I left work at 22:04 and got the 21:53 train home - for the first time I'm not complaining about a late train :))

You can print those charts online and just eyeball the prescription @ home.

If it's slightly blurry, up 0.25 to 0.5 diopters.

The only thing that the eye doc has which you don't is the astigmatism measurement. Which isn't 100% necessary.

Snow warning hit our town, however its not as bad. Enviroment Canada says it might worsen later, especially for cities at the lake (which my city counts as part of.) Slightly higher chance that we might have a snowday tomorrow.

Participated in remembrance day ceremony. Did math and factoring, was not fun.

Am currently having oxygen now for lunch since i'm going home very soon.
