Actually, similar to the previous poster, I found that getting a 55g made me appreciate the strengths of the 45g more. The contrast between the two is very pleasant. In the end though I'll most likely be keeping the 55g and selling the 45g.

As birthdaymonkey points out, both are great and we appreciate the differences between the two. There are times (usually earlier in my work day), where I prefer the 55g to my variable or HHKB. The only real solution is just rotate them depending on mood.

I know a guitarist who has 17 guitars. Why does he have so many? Because each fits the bill for a particular mood. Each has different qualities and is appreciated for those differences.

I have been using my 87u 55g for week now and its wonderful. I have said in other threads if I could have only one board this would be it. But being fortunate to have a HHKB Pro2 I can appreciate both, using the HHKB for textual endeavors and the 87u 55g for all purpose uses, It feels snappy and crisp with out being fatiguing. My cherry MX boards get very little use now and I"m thinking about putting them in the classifieds when I have enough posts to do so.

I just a lot of my MX stuff so that I could buy a second RF.  A lot of the MX stuff I had just recently purchased too.  After ordering my first RF about a week ago I decided that although MX is good topre is just better

(rubber dome, scissor switch) <<< MX switches < topre

I think 55g is the perfect switch, and this is from someone who thinks blacks are too stiff.  The board I sold all my MX stuff for is going to be silent RF, just to satisfy my curiosity.

Long story short, you can just sell all your old stuff like I did.  I think it's worth it.

Hmmmm, I've considered this... I just ordered 2 MX boards last night too. Lol! I've been looking at a white/grey 55g RF for so long... *sigh* Maybe after I'm done modding an ergo-clear and end up not liking it, I'll consider it... FFFFUUUUUUUUUU-

It's on my wishlist tp. I've only been on GH for a collective time of maybe 6 hours and I already know how enthusiastic you are about the Ergodox. hah

Fail. You could have used those 6 hours to sell your body on the streets and buy one.

"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

+1 for all 55g.
I have a variable weight and a uniform 55g... I prefer the all 55g by far.

I now wish HHKB made a 55g version. I would highly reccomend the 55g its the best feel I've experianced so far!!

I often find myself in the same boat, although I don't mind the lighter weight on the HHKB as much as I do on the RF.

Not a bad guess :)

Sometimes it is frightening how much time we actually spend here.
