With all the "gamer rad blue/red leds" PC cases out there, sometimes I wish there was a geekhack for them, as I hate them the same way I hate "gaming" KBs.
So, lets post different PC cases that actually look great or interesting.

I really like the vintage amp one as well, that's awesome.

I also really like the desk style cases, but they're expensive and don't suit my builds.. not enough room for all of my crap on most of them.  )

This is my current case, stock photo because my camera is a potato. 

I like it's minimalist but stylish aesthetic. Really high build quality all around too, it was worth every penny. Lots of aluminum and steel, and packed with handy features.

I think Fractal cases are really nice looking. Those ones you posted in the OP though I think will be faaaaar too expensive to be a practical alternative.

Demented Apple freaks  .   You could post on Ebay a Jar of Sh1t and proclaim that it's 100% authentic and had come out of Jobsie's Arse, and guess what - it'll sell easily  .

Just remember to stick an Apple Logo onto the Glass Jar first before posting the pics.......

Really into Lian-Li and CaseLabs stuff but I love my Ncase to death.  This thing has an awesome layout, is super minimal, and simple.  I'm really looking forward to the DAN A4-SFX, too.  I don't need another build but I want it.  I want it bad.  It's so tiny.

PSUs are amazing, cases are quite pricey considering what they offer if you ask me. Are they nice cases? Hell yes. But the pricing on some of those is ridiculous.

It' just a damn box with some holes cut in it..   and the whole modular concept is m00t, since there is an ideal configuration for every displacement size. because the majority of the internal components are identically shaped.


Everyone should Totes get P280 for $40  on sale...  Best case to $ ratio.

It's a nice case but it could use some more cable management holes and a switch to 140mm fans.  The 10-slot design makes it just a little too long for stockPSU cables, particularly the 8-pin to reach

My old file server... This was built 4 years ago (documented on Bit-tech), Mini-ITX was still pretty new at that point and not a lot of options.

The idea was based off the old Mac Cube (which I loved) and is actually a bit smaller (less than 8inches in all directions).
It's scratch built out of Oak, Plexiglass and aluminum. A single 140mm fan blows up the center making it dead silent, it had 2gigs of ram, an AMD Sempron and a 2Tb low power drive. Unlike the Mac, the power supply is internal, running headless (no mouse, keyboard or monitor) meant there was only a power cord and network cable going to it. I still have it in a closet.

Some day, hopefully.  I just need the cost to come down.  I have recently had the itch to re-do my rig and started looking on ebay.  Got sniped today on an FT03 by $1!  Case sold for $47     So close.  I have always loved to look of those, but it's probably better that I missed on it since it was not the mini.

I had a P280 that I did a retro build in (AM2 dual core with sli 6800s for some benching and playing SC1 and Fallout on).  Sold the innards and built my Mom a totally silent APU in it.  Highly recommended for those that don't care how big it is.

Either way... I can't deal with negative pressure, because the dust ends up in all the small grooves and ports

The only type of small form factor pcs that are worth building are the steam box types with the pciexpress angle adapter.

All other itx builds are stupid, because they're just as wide, and take up exactly as much space as full atx, without the room to work in.

I disagree with you tp4. How does a Ncase take up as much space as a full atx? It uses way less space, and is much easier to transport.

I disagree with you tp4. How does a Ncase take up as much space as a full atx? It uses way less space, and is much easier to transport.

Gonna have to agree with byker on this one.  I built my itx rig to fit in a cube shelf, no way an atx case is ever finding its way back into my office.  Only direction I will go is smaller.  If someone could figure out how to package a full itx build with an atx psu and 12" gpu into a case that can mount with vesa on the back of my monitor, I would be there.

The reason the cube style cases are essentially just as large as full size cases,  is because of their width is identical.

Think about it this way, Next to a table, the space in front of the computer is taken up regardless whether or not there is something there.  You also wouldn't be able to put anything infront of the cube case, because ventilation requires that the front is relatively clear.

So if you look at the width of the table, relative to the forward length of the case,  you are not saving ANY space.


The only possible space saving with regards to a computer is width of the case, where a water cooled steam machine type would stand close to the side of the table,   Freeing up whatever is to the left or right of it.. be it only about 2 square feet.


Aesthetics aside, if we only look at the USABLE space saved,  the cube style provide absolutely no saving relative to a full size atx of equal width.

I still disagree. Sure the width is the same, but the length and the height are completely different. I prefer the smaller volume of the case when I have to frequently move (as a uni student), not so much for the desk space. It makes a difference when you have to fill a car with your belongings and you have an atx vs an mitx case.

Even if you frequently move,  It can not possibly be frequent ENOUGH, such that the extra size of the case is that much MORE to carry relative to your TOTAL sum of "Stuff to be moved"

As for height,  floor space is floor space,  you would need very corner examples to enforce a situation where the above clearance ever came into play, where x-potted plant HAD to be 3 inches off the top of the PC..

I don't really like the way most computer cases look these days. They don't have a chunky PC aesthetic they just look like tin cans or cheap hifi's.

Bought an E20 Thinkstation off ebay for €250 (I mostly do Autocad so it was a good deal for a something with a Xeon processor and Quattro 3D card) the other day and it looks good, if not brilliant.

I want something that's made out of nice quality molded plastic and has a great finish. Give me a twist on the classic 90's PC.
