I find the lack of lambics in this thread reproachable.

Jester king has some amazing ones.

But they also sell out within an hour of release day.

Guess I forgot this one:

Kriek Lambic - Mort Subite

Though I've had some hits and misses with them.
Timmermans Blanche Lambicus is nice and sour for example, while a Kriek Boon is a bit sweeter because its also a kriek beer.

Tried Belching Beaver's Peanut Butter Milk Stout.  A friend brought some over on Saturday.  It was pretty solid.  Might have to pick some more up at some point.

Spent the afternoon / evening at Bottle Logic, drank quite a few excellent beers. Met up with Mythicalwagu and had a grand ol' time.

Was my dad's first time here, visiting from Ohio, so he had the flight of all their "constants." We all had a few samplers to start, too, but quickly moved on to full pours of the limited releases.

"BA" DIPA, the newest in their Konami Code "haze" series. (Up-Up; Down-Down; Left-Right, Left-Right being the previous entries)

Titan of Tokyo - "Tart Wheat Ale featuring Jasmine Rice specialty malt with flaming pink Dragonfruit and locally sourced Loquat!" A sour / berliner weisse hybrid. Not something I expected to love, but was surprisingly delicious. Was very well balanced, not overly fruity at all.

Not pictured is their Iridium Flare, a mead / strong ale "brewed with honey and marionberries and aged in bourbon barrels." Another surprisingly excellent brew. At 13% but tasting like liquid jam, this stuff was dangerous.

All in all, a hell of a day with great beer and great people.

 :thumb:

Also, the take home haul:

Haha I'm definitely down to trade in the future, but half of these were already for GH/Slack members and the other half was stockpiling for a 10 day trip starting tomorrow.

But I'll hit you up next time I get something tasty and we can talk =)

weary of artisan brews.

some guy in their garages..

it's one thing to buy their keycaps,   but to drink a complex chemical reaction produced by someone with no background in chemistry/ safety..

Beer is all poison in the end,    but something about the homebrew factor here just doesn't seem safe..

Homebrewing is pretty safe. The most dangerous part of the process is probably boiling the wort.

Nice. If they dropped the in-person restrictions and would allow for shipping I'd be more interested in purchasing a membership. I don't want to have to drive to OK or deal with having a proxy.

I don't have any rare glasses or anything like that. Good luck collecting more :)

Jester king had a limited release yesterday.

"Last year when we were making 2016 Aurelian Lure, we took a portion of the batch and put it in two ~225L Calvados barrels (apple brandy from the Normandy region of France). After about a year of aging, we blended the barrels, and naturally refermented the blend in bottles and kegs. Calvados Barrel Aged Aurelian Lure is unfiltered, unpasteurized, 6.4 percent alcohol by volume, 10 IBU, 3.4 pH, and has a finishing gravity of 1.003 (0.75 degrees Plato). It was packaged on April 18th, 2017."

I'll make my way down to JK one of these days. I had Black Metal years ago. I wish they'd make more stouts.

pics from last week:

Went to the Grapevine Craft Brewery on Saturday for their 2nd anniversary. Only had two beers - Nightwatch Oatmeal Stout (on nitro) and two half pours of Witherspoon Barrel-Aged the Master Coffee Stout. They were pretty good :)

A couple of beers from my vacation:

Mikkeler SD / Alesmith collab "Henry Hazesmith" - Honestly kind of disappointing.

Drake's "Get Stupid" - This one was much, much better than the first. Excellent representation of the style. Will have to make a stop by their brewery next time I'm in the Bay.

Also tried Mikkeler SD's "Rauch Geek Breakfast" stout and Faction "Anamoly" nitro stout, both of which were very good. But I had stopped snapping pics by then.

I stopped by Fieldwork in Oakland to pick up a few crowlers and I definitely recommend those guys if you're ever in the area. Really cool brewery with good eats and very solid beers. Seems like they're doing relatively frequent can releases, too. And 32oz crowlers for $11 was good by me.

Met GH/Slack user Shinz0 at The Rare Barrel brewery in Oakland as well. I'm not usually into sours, but this place was really, really good. They also offered beers from other local breweries, so it was a nice way to sample without having to drive all over the place. Absolutely recommend checking them out as well.

We then went to Santa Cruz, where I happened upon a brewery that's only a few months old: Humble Sea. These guys are doing absolutely great stuff for being so new and I really look forward to seeing them get better. Also have a really cool location with outdoor seating about a half mile from the beach.

The small glass is "Juice Canoe" DIPA, the other is "Wetsuit Dreams" Pale Ale. Both were excellent.

Houston is opening up a new brewery.

Ingenious Brewing Company.

People who have had some of their brews are saying they are going to be the Trillium of the south.

I think I have a beer problem.
