These or Klaxons
« on: Mon, 24 June 2013, 21:28:27 »
I just saw these at feng's shop, must be new:

So I'm debating between buying those or waiting for a Klaxon set to pop up. I'm slightly leaning towards these as I tend to wear out keys and I hate smooth key tops, as much as I love the clean legends on doubleshots (Klaxon is doubleshot ABS right?). Thoughts?

These are Imsto Thick PBT caps. If you're worried about "wearing caps", then definitely grab these, but the font is kinda meh imo :p

PS - Yes, Klaxon = signature plastics ABS DS.

The Imsto thick PBTs have a nice coarse texture to them I hope?

I have the klaxon set with RoW alphas and RoG mods and I think it looks a lot better than that imsto set. But that's just my opinion.

I have the thick PBT's on my Filco and I am loving them.  They make the keyboard feel more solid and they look great.

I find ABS caps to be smooth while PBT caps are a little sandy/coarse. Because of this preference, I'm selling my Imsto caps.

Can someone please explain what a klaxon is? I've heard it many times now on GH but I don't find anything when I google it :/

I have the thick PBT's on my Filco and I am loving them.  They make the keyboard feel more solid and they look great.

the reason they make the board feel solid has nothing to do with them being thick..

It has to do with their profile.. the shorter stem and lower profile makes for less torque against the housing, thus reducing friction, and your finger is also closer to the housing, less wobbling.

I prefer Klaxon. But I think those pbt keycaps are better for you. Because you hate smooth key tops

In retrospect, this color scheme probably would have looked better with red mods, instead of all RoG...

Or with a white case. Or an urban camo case (get on it Filco).

You should vinyl dye your case. I believe there exists white vinyl dye. Not sure how it would work on a black case tho. I dyed mine burgundy over a grey branded case.
RoG mods looks good with RoW alphas

Oooh nice! I think I would have to sand off the rubberized coating on the QFR before considering that though. I wonder if the blank cases that CM sells on their webstore has the rubber coating, or not.
