Jealous of all y'alls American beers. Still, we have some killer stuff up in Quebec

This one in particular has been a highlight of the last few months, "Deze Monnik Is Dronken Supermoine #3" from Brasserie Dunham

I tried to stock up tonight. My favorite dépanneur (corner store/beer shop) was all out  :(

Got some more of this:

Glutenberg Saison Froide. The little booklet comes with the pairings based on molecular gastronomy. Pad thai with coriander and lime juice is fire with this, science fact!

I just got back from a trip to the USA (popped across the Atlantic quickly to save on shipping for my Triumph Adler caps) where I finally got a chance to try a few more of the IPAs I've been hearing about. I tried 3 different brews from Dogfish Head and was completely unimpressed. "Namaste" (not an IPA) was interesting but not enjoyable. I think my sister-in-law will use it for washing her hair. 60-minute and 90-minute IPAs were plenty bitter and hoppy but entirely lacking in the citrussy flowery flavours that I like so much. Boring!
Sweetwater IPA was substantially better but not amazing.
One that I really did like a lot was "Village Green IPA" from Pale Fire Brewing in Virginia. Not quite so hoppy as I might like but much better in the citrus-flavours department. Reminds me a bit of Punk IPA, but without the biscuity notes. I think I prefer the VG over the Punk, actually,  which is really saying something.

I got into good beer about a year ago. I think I've only bought the same 6 pack once in the past year. I stocked up on some really good beer for college since most everything around here is all lower tier stuff. The New Belgium is more of a casual beer (Skinny Dip, haven't tried it yet). The bottom row stuff are for dinner. I have had the Mikkeller's Beer Geek Brunch once and absolutely love it. Favorite beer followed closely by Boulevard's Imperial Stout Coffee Ale (have a bottle of that for a special occasion too  ). I'm looking forward to trying the other Mikkeller Beer Geek stuff, as well as, the #8 and Spaghetti Western. I've heard great things about all of them. The bottles laying down on the bottom are various coffee and stouts and some of Southern Tier's Helles. Unfortunately, nothing really local in this batch. I'm looking forward to fixing eggs and bacon for dinner one of these nights and sipping through one of the Mikkeller Beer Geek brews.

Don't worry boys I've returned to my senses  ;D

I brought this bottle back from Portland last year.  It's a yarrow and calendula saison from my favorite brewery (probably tied with Russian River) Upright Brewing!  Their brewery is in a basement and you literally sit among the tanks when you drink their beers.  I think I have a picture on my phone somewhere...

(...)Whereas back then I wrote about the tyranny of the majority, today I'd combine that with the tyranny of the minorities. These days, you have to be careful of both. They both want to control you. The first group, by making you do the same thing over and over again. The second group is indicated by the letters I get from the Vassar girls who want me to put more women's lib in The Martian Chronicles, or from blacks who want more black people in Dandelion Wine.
I say to both bunches, Whether you're a majority or minority, bug off! To hell with anybody who wants to tell me what to write. Their society breaks down into subsections of minorities who then, in effect, burn books by banning them. All this political correctness that's rampant on campuses is b.s.

Sierra Nevada's Oktoberfest. Anyone try it? I picked up a case and it is not too bad. I wish I had bought a 6 pack though. Not really into märzen beer, so that must just be me. I would agree with B.A. and say they slightly missed the mark on this one.

Speaking of, it needs to be November/December so I can stock up on Celebration Ale. My favorite Sierra Nevada beer ever.

Haha. When I still lived in Newcaslte ~6 years ago there was a place that had Erdinger Dunkle on tap. Not as many good beers to be had in the city center in those days so it was a real winner.

Tried some Southern Tier Pumking yesterday. It tastes EXACTLY like Pumpkin Bread. Perfectly balanced too, could hardly taste the alcohol and has a great finish. Best had by itself IMO.

Gonna have to splurge on that at some point. Their beers are not cheap ($4 per/$16 4-pack)

You have to Roadsmary's Baby then. http://www.ratebeer.com/beer/two-roads-roadsmarys-baby/226486/

I had a glass this weekend and it was amazing to say the least. I have a bottle in my fridge that I need to drink soon so I can get more.

I did, we ate cheese, drank beer & hiked like crazy people! That was my second visit to Hill Farmstead, the first was probably 5 years ago and they've come a loooong way. The beer is so good and there is so much demand it's not a huge surprise though. Also I ate 3 Red Onion sandwiches.
