Someone chucked a yellow bike out in the hard rubbish and we went back to get it but someone else had already taken it.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Whenever you stumble across a good deal of any kind you need to pounce on it immediately, because somebody else is right behind you.

My wife hates my keyboards. :(
She doesn't mind the loud noises they make though which is surprising. She just doesn't get how I can spend that much on keyboard stuff.
She doesn't know guys, she doesn't know.

Every time I get into this argument (though not as often anymore), I pull out all her purses and shoes "Do you really need all these?"

If you have a stack of undesirable keyboards just offer a 1 to 1 trade: I'll get rid of one keyboard, you get rid of one purse/pair of shoes.

I don't think it's terrible at all.  It's called equal rights.

And she doesn't cook - the microwave is our chef.

But like I said it's not so much an issue anymore as my keyboard purchases have been winding down to nothing.  I came to GeekHack looking for a better keyboard and ended up finding really nice cheap rubberdomes that satisfy. :D

:SpamRay dims the light in the room. Gave a little time to allow his eyes to adjust. He then took a final squinty look around to make sure no one was watching. Oh no, he thought, the window shades are open, can't have the NSA boys know about this..

Spam closes the window shades as quietly as he can.  he had setup his most quiet mx red keyboard just for this moment, as he slowly taps -anime- into the Netflix pc app..

--creeeeeek,  the sound of a door opening,  WHAT"S THAT, who's there...

His wife walked out from within the closet,  hands undoing the room's dimmer switch.

As the lights came on,  Spam knew his life was over..  he was caught , red handed.

There was a faint sadness in his wife's eyes. A single tear rolls down her cheeks as she took a dramatic blink to steady her thoughts..

How could you.. spam.. how could you...

I can't even hit my wife with the shoes, she has like 3 pair.
She does have a tendency to hoard a few things though so she should at least understand. :D I'll definitely bring that up the next time. Not in a combative way, just letting her know that I know she does the same thing. :p

The vegan thing is not easy, i think the corporate mindedness of the vegan upstarts are using identical tactics as the meat industry towards their cause..

But, vegan eating is not very realistic , especially for the low middle to low income earners.

It's not that they can't afford rice and beans..  it's that the HAPPINESS derived from rice and beans is disproportionately low.

For example..

Hamburger : $4,  Happiness 7

Rice and Beans: $1,  Happiness 0.5

This is something that vegans will always push under a rug for the cause..

And WHILE I agree with all of the health informations,   They neglect the cognitive satiating necessity to modern living.

People work very boring jobs, so they can come home to a little Quick-Burst of happiness.. in most cases, the only thing within their financial means is unfortunately some less than healthy foods.

It's really easy for the financially well-off vegans to put these greasy foods aside, because they have every capacity to find pleasure by other means..

That is not the case with the low income class majority.

I don't want to give people excuses not to go vegan..

but overall,   the price of health DOES come at the cost of happiness..

The more affluent can replace it with shopping, hobbies, learning, drugs, sex, alcohol

The less affluent majority, food as entertainment  really does have the highest payoff vs the dollar they spend..

People didn't start junk food addictions because they were illogical or stupid.

There is a very real financial correctness to buy the most immediate happiness at the least cost.

I don't have the answers,  idk,  give cocaine allowances to the income disadvantaged? hahahaha..  Justkidding.

Lets run with the cocaine allowances.

Humans run on a hedonic system regulator..  There are many limits to this system, and all of our social organization problems are due to such limits..

IF we can eventually keep people always happy and always motivated, even by pharmaceutical means,    I don't see why that is so wrong an approach.

The drawback to today's technology in this area, is receptor reduction and neurotoxicity.

But a strict, anti-drug approach is short-sighted because hacking our brains is going to be EVEN MORE CRITICAL when we have to compete with the uprise of Skynet like machine intelligence.

A machine intelligence may not rest, may not become disinterested, may never stop improving.

Meanwhile,  every human has to sleep for 8 hours a day, and at best do 3-4 hours of meaningful brainwork each day.

They'll wipe the floors with us..

The receptor trimming and neurotoxicity,   we should be researching this rather than AVOIDING designer pharmaceutical highs..

We do this not for pleasure's sake, but to rise above our primitive pleasure centered system,  by removing that limit..

-- The natural lifespan of a vegan human is 80-90,   I don't see why it's so impossible to slowly escalate low dose amphetamines during this entire span..

-- Yes more research is needed, but to push for au-naturale is just being a scientific hippie..

Some would even argue the modern productivity explosion was due in large part to cigarettes and coffee.

Nothing is without shortcomings,  but we should solve the problem instead of avoiding a very necessary evolution..

Nothing is without shortcomings,  but we should solve the problem instead of avoiding a very necessary evolution..

...... i just want some cocaine.

it's REAL dopamine..

if it was fake,  it wouldn't work.. hahahahaha

but it's dopamine out of context..

Imagine a world that's psychotic, because they're on drugs..

However,  this world would be 100% objective and machine like in decision making..

It's always a give and take,    but overall ,  it would seem that man rose above animals specifically due to the fact that we have the more developed pre-frontal cortex to Counterbalance the core instinctive drives of our Mid-Brain,  which tells us to rob, rape, and pillage..

Fleas. I'm beginning to realize you can never really get rid of them completely (short of moving)

Once you've been infested all you can do is stay upkept on vacuuming and biweekly poison to keep them under control, cause they never really ever totally go away.

You may think you've gotten them all and be bite-free for a couple weeks or even a month, then out of nowhere for no reason they come back again and again.

it's because of pets..

for example, u got a cat,  he gets clean, the house is bug bombed..

Then your cat leaves,  go hang out with another cat,  and picks up fleas again..

Hamburger : $4,  Happiness 7

Rice and Beans: $1,  Happiness 0.5
but overall,   the price of health DOES come at the cost of happiness..
Meh. I cooked myself a sloppy vegetarian hamburger for dinner today as comfort food. I tend to do that every weekend. It could very well have been made full vegan.
The tricks are in how to cook the ingredients the right ways to release the best flavours and textures. It does not cost much to marinate the mushroom, caramelise the onions or to fry the tomatoes - but it makes a huge difference for flavour and therefore for well-being.

The preparation cost is a bit higher for vegan dishes in my experience so far.

Because the meats are greasy, just a dash of soy sauce,  and they taste great..

but Veggies aren't nearly as appealing without some work..

Modern operating system's. I want to make my own kernel and so on from scratch. "Why not just do lfs etc?" Don't like the main stream kernels want more control over the maintainers and the kernel. At some point I want to make everything from scratch. even the programming language and so on.

Modern operating systems make me so mad sometimes. The restriction they put on the users, and the inconsistencies they have when there is maybe a different program running. I think Linux is the best out there right now in terms of combustibility. It's a real shame more people don't use it. Most people now don't have any time to really learn computers. They just want simple GUI's interfaces so they don't have to think...

Recently learned to replace i3wm's status bar with i3blocks and add/configure modules that output info that mirrors my Gnome3 environment. Not bad for a liberal arts major dropout. Reserved some system memory and learned a few things in the process. All in all a rewarding experience that I'm sure will continue outside the confines of Manjaro.
