Will try to pay NHS a visit for the first time. And why must rain start right before I need to go out?

sethk_, I found out Belgium's drinking age. It's 18 for strong spirits and 16 for anything else. I am not sure if any Belgian knows that.
I found that the eastern countries really don't care. I was drinking in Hungary and Poland as well.

Oh snap! They shipped mine too and I didn't even notice. I got big plans for this thing, I totally destroyed the first one I had experimenting with it. I've been trying to get another for almost 6 months. I'm pretty happy now.

To stay on topic, I drank too much Redbull and now I'm super over caffeinated. I need to calm down....

don't be sad, its not as if I dread on it that much. there's clearly some positives experiences to be had tied in with most of life's messes.

Literally just had this conversation with myself...working in IT has made me a different person. I need another vacation...

Work is still stressful. I'm even starting to have dreams about how I feel more responsible than the average person my age. Kind of....sad.

Going back to the gym and my muscles are sore as **** , arms and legs especially. Don't try to run a mile after maxing out your squats the previous day...

Is it the weekend yet?

Everyone wants to live in a universe of lollipops and unicorns, but, whether you believe in "karma" or any other such force, it is probably unrealistic to think that the net sum of happiness and sadness in life will be far from zero.

The key to actually being "happy" in the universal sense, is to look for what is positive and appreciate it when it occurs.

No one could be in the water with a shark or a crocodile without being terrified, and rightly so, but not everyone can see the beauty of the creature when observed from a safe distance.

Also, protect your health. If you are not healthy, it is very difficult to be happy, but when you (and those closest to you) are healthy, you can feel good about that on its own.
"The Trump campaign announced in a letter that Republican candidates and committees are now expected to pay “a minimum of 5% of all fundraising solicitations to Trump National Committee JFC” for using his “name, image, and likeness in fundraising solicitations.”
“Any split that is higher than 5%,” the letter states, “will be seen favorably by the RNC and President Trump's campaign and is routinely reported to the highest levels of leadership within both organizations.”"

I think I'm the only person who never ever wants to go back to school.  I'd be working 80 hour weeks before school became an appealing option, and that would only be because I'd get a winter and spring break.

I feel this way too! I hated school and would never in a million years want to go back. I'll take all the work stress in the world over going back to school. With work, I have some control - if it is truly awful I can go work some place else, or at least try to (often just the act of looking at other places makes me feel better!). With school it was like I was trapped. I hated it.

agreed, I had to go back to school after working few years, It just felt like even more a waste of time that before my worktime. Having to learn non usefull stuff just to have metrics teacher can evaluate you on. Going back home after a ultra boring school day, just to have another 1-2 hours of personnal work to do.

Too bad you have to get diplomas to be considered in job interview.

Grad school sucked (aside from the teaching classes part), but undergrad was awesome.  Grad school in a program that doesn't treat you like ****, that respects diverse ideas based on sound theory and tested hypotheses, and without backstabbing and petty bull**** would be great.  Mine wasn't like that.

It's so great that I have a non-stressful work.
(...)Whereas back then I wrote about the tyranny of the majority, today I'd combine that with the tyranny of the minorities. These days, you have to be careful of both. They both want to control you. The first group, by making you do the same thing over and over again. The second group is indicated by the letters I get from the Vassar girls who want me to put more women's lib in The Martian Chronicles, or from blacks who want more black people in Dandelion Wine.
I say to both bunches, Whether you're a majority or minority, bug off! To hell with anybody who wants to tell me what to write. Their society breaks down into subsections of minorities who then, in effect, burn books by banning them. All this political correctness that's rampant on campuses is b.s.

Speaking of which, my employer is hiring!  :D

If they paid at least what I'm making now and didn't need a STEM degree, I'd gladly move to WI.

No STEM degree, since they're all operator/assistant positions.  Surprised to hear you'd be willing to move to WI.  O.o  As for pay, I actually don't know exactly what it is but it's not bad at all.

Party in WI!   :llama:

Too bad you have to get diplomas to be considered in job interview.

Nah, you just have to know people and be connected.

Wisconsin is more gun friendly and much cheaper to live there...of course, the women aren't as attractive...this makes things more difficult.

Plenty of cuties around here!  You just have to have a truck, hunt, and be willing to inherit their child.

In other words, no, there aren't any cuties around there.

*******s on the California freeway.  Dives into an exit only lane, zips to the front, gets pissed when I don't let him cut in front of me, throws the bird, and zips up and cuts someone else off.  Go to merge onto another freeway on ramp, he sees me, cuts in front of me and proceeds to go 10-15 slower than everyone else.  I'm an adult, so, whatever, I keep driving.  Change lanes, he cuts in front of me again and goes slower.  Now I'm merging onto another freeway at 40.  Still, whatever, follow him, make sure I'm at a safe speed and distance.  See my off ramp, change lanes, speed up and pass him.  He throws the bird again.  I don't get people like that.

Also, my Corner Bakery tea tastes like marijuana.  It's disgusting.

Only the most pleasant drivers here in WI...    (seriously that sucks though)

:-*

Also, I've been informed that my previous comment about the women where I live has been misinterpreted to apply to all women in WI.  This is not the case.  Please come visit!

And ask them to pay for your hire car if they aren't already.
Can we get them to build the Alps ten feet higher and get Cherry to pay for it?

Now's where you wonder if they're trying to take you for a ride.

They warned me upfront they couldn't see secondary damage from the trunk being rammed into the frame without getting it in the shop. I was just expecting a modest increase, not a doubling. And in addition to working with these people a couple times, they're a "preferred" shop for my carrier so I don't think they're exaggerating, but you never know!

And ask them to pay for your hire car if they aren't already.

Thankfully that's a part of my insurance. Though I'm sure the other party's insurance is going to cringe when they see it.
