Armageddon Black Hornet MKA-3
« on: Sun, 13 October 2013, 19:07:15 »
I have only found one post regarding this keyboard. And i have found one available in my country for a relatively cheap price.

How it looks like

Layout wise, its standard 87 key ANSI

One thing im really suprised by this keyboard is the fact that it uses costar stabalizers, I dont believe any other led backlit keyboards have this

Back of the keyboard

Included wrist rest

And as far as typing goes, its really nice to type on. Feels about as good as a filco. The platemounted blues give it a real solid feel. Leds are pretty good, no excessively bright or dim leds. And keycaps are pretty standard for backlit keyboards.

TL;DR

Its a real solid board and give its price. Its very good for a full led keyboard.

I don't understand... QFR and Filco have costar stabilizers.  Perhaps this keyboard is also manufactured by Costar.

I like the blue and yellow LED combination!

My next backlit would probably be a toss-up between these two colours.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Quickfire TK uses Costar stabilizers. Completely backlit. So does the Storm Trigger.

Oh em gee, I had them backwards. That's really weird, though, considering that CM is made by Costar.

Only some models of coolermaster keyboards are made by costar like the Quickfire Rapid

I had the MKA-3 myself, sold it off a while back......NOT that it was faulty or bad quality, far from it, was getting a tad tired of MX Red. It was well-built, evenly lit LED throughout, key caps were actually pretty good, no shine after a period of use, can't say the same for the key caps on the Trigger. I didn't know the MKA-3 was available in Blues......interesting.

Called black hornet. Blue and yellow LEDs. Picture of an eagle. Checks out. Or is that a hornet on the space bar?

Hmmm with LEDs sometimes it is difficult to tell.

Still, I like orange too, just not quite as much as yellow.

Just by using cherry mx switches , it is advertised as a 'Gaming' Keyboard

that is a very nice keyboard, and great inclusion of a wrist rest that's not just a wedge of hard plastic.
The where to buy on their website doesn't have any countries near me :(

edit: the StrikeEagle MKI-3 looks familiar, so who is the OEM for the Hornet?

The Strike Eagle is the same as those Genius boards that use the 3rd party cherry-like reds.
The site pretty much says so with the "affordable mech switches" comment.

it's not a bad thing though.
