I survived Y2K with Windows 3.1. That was a good OS. Windows 98 is a good choice too if you're getting ready for Y2K.

Then you better get yourself a ZIP drive! Don't let your data get trapped.

For me, the great releases were:

DOS 2.15, 2.5, 3.3, and 6.22

Windows 95, 98, XP, and 7

One day in the next year, when I have the time and money, I will probably go to 8

No love for DOS 5.0?

WHO NEEDS DOS 5 WHEN THERE'S WINDOWS 98?

Well, Windows 98, being the same garbage that Windows 95 was, only less BSODs and slightly less reinstalling IMHO, made me more question why Windows 98 when there's also DOS :p At that time, I liked System 7 and System 8 more than Windows 95/98.

Windows 98 is not garbage. You are making a fool out of yourself by denying settled science.

Mehh.. Windows 98 SE was alright, but I had really really weird experiences with Windows 98 (of course, YMMV), especially system/driver detection (on different machines). I have seen multiple times where Windows 98 would install different drivers / detect different hardware when I reinstalled Windows 98. That was really really weird. And the only way to fix that was to reinstall again.

Mmm nice. I had QuickBasic 4.5 on floppies... it was the exact same design, exact for the red triangle being blue. I also had the QuickBasic 4.5 manual, still have it somewhere in some box. The good old days where they would give you bibles full of documentation (like Visual Basic 5.0 Learning Edition Deluxe, which was a cassette of books).

Don't waste your time watching other people having fun, get involved and get busy with your significant other.

You've got all the porno temptations with her and why waste your time surfing the web for it?  Only use the web to BUY, move money around and book holidays, that's about it.

Also forget about ever using IE because it's just nasty junk way past it's usefulness  8) .

1.

By this definition, IE6 must be able to die in order to be considered "alive".

You can't have it both ways.

Islamic Terrorism/Extremism
« Reply #183 on: Fri, 24 October 2014, 10:37:22 »
Seems like Islamic extremism/terrorism has been on the rise in the past couple years. Recent incidents such as the Canadian parliament shooting, ISIL terrorism in western Iraq and eastern Syria, 9/11/2012 U. S. Embassy bombing, and the Boston Marathon bombing come to mind. What are your thoughts on this?

I personally think that if the United States had kept some troops in Iraq, the whole Islamic State fiasco would've largely been prevented.

THANKS, OBAMA!

I do believe that the Obama administration is largely responsible for the crisis in Iraq and Syria. Many others across the political spectrum, even George W. Bush, warned that a complete withdrawl of troops from Iraq would leave a dangerous power vacuum. But the Obama camp stuck with their ideological goals and withdrew the troops anyway. And look at what's filled the power vacuum. Now we've got a vicious terrorist organization that gets over $1 million a day from black market oil sales to deal with.

I personally think that if the United States had kept some troops in Iraq, the whole Islamic State fiasco would've largely been prevented.

THANKS, OBAMA!

Isn't change great!

even George W. Bush, warned that a complete withdrawl of troops from Iraq would leave a dangerous power vacuum.

Clearly, you have gone full retard.

If Bush Jr had not totally lied, we would never have gone into Iraq in the first place.
"The Trump campaign announced in a letter that Republican candidates and committees are now expected to pay “a minimum of 5% of all fundraising solicitations to Trump National Committee JFC” for using his “name, image, and likeness in fundraising solicitations.”
“Any split that is higher than 5%,” the letter states, “will be seen favorably by the RNC and President Trump's campaign and is routinely reported to the highest levels of leadership within both organizations.”"

Didn't they just come out with news reports that they actually found WMD's and just neglected to mention it?

This is the net result of what happens when you invade and depose the leader of one of the biggest nations in what is essentially the dark ages...

Bush may have not been the greatest president ever, but his replacement is even worse. You're neglecting to acknowledge the fact that if Obama did not have all the troops withdrawn from Iraq in 2011, then the IS situation would have been largely prevented. "Bush's lies" are no excuse for Obama's poor decision and leadership.

I don't remember what movie it was - maybe '7 years in tibet'?  Anyway when I was younger I remember a scene in that movie where the Chinese came out and declared "Religion is Poison."  I thought that was rather harsh at the time but now that I'm getting older I'm starting to agree.

I don't think religion itself is poison--after all, the vast majority of Muslims are peaceful people. But it's these evil, deranged, mentally ill people who use religion as an excuse for their terror who are the real poison.

Obama is doing an exemplary job at shoveling out the latrine that Bush left for him.

His mistake is that he is too nice and has not done nearly as much as he should have.

PS - Religion is not a poison, it is a deadly virus.

We went into Iraq to steal oil, what did you expect would happen.

Now that the heist has gone sour, and the occupation force becoming much to financially burdensome to sustain we have no choice but to end our latest imperialist campaign. If anything blame the capitalists who said they were rich enough but turned out to be all leverage and no substance.
