Recently I've seen a lot of members being attacked purely off of who they are (even though most of what they spew is utter crap) and not on the topic at hand.

This is deterring to new members and makes the "elite circlejerk" even more prominent.

We're all here for keyboards, not to be entitled d-bags.

It's easy to just throw it all into a bin for us to deal with, right?  After all, we just looove sorting through all the drama.  I don't see why it's ever okay to toss around insults on a public forum that's supposed to be a place for enthusiasts to share information and their appreciation for well engineered pieces of input devices.

It's also not always straightforward what to moderate and what not to moderate, because everyone appreciates a place where they can freely share their opinion and not get overmoderated, but on the other hand, that really only works if every individual makes some effort to moderate themselves.

So many threads have derailed recently because someone took exception to the way that someone else said something.

If you can't comment positively (and ideally constructively) in a thread, then please move on.  There are other threads to read.

Attacking people stems from the attackers need for attention. Brushing off their "attacks" and ignoring them is really the only solution. Most of them wouldn't dare say the things they post in person anyways.
