Keyboard Zen: What is the sound of someone typing on a silent mechanical keyboard in a forest with no-one around to here?
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

oh, but i've heard that mechanical keyboards are all loud
(...)Whereas back then I wrote about the tyranny of the majority, today I'd combine that with the tyranny of the minorities. These days, you have to be careful of both. They both want to control you. The first group, by making you do the same thing over and over again. The second group is indicated by the letters I get from the Vassar girls who want me to put more women's lib in The Martian Chronicles, or from blacks who want more black people in Dandelion Wine.
I say to both bunches, Whether you're a majority or minority, bug off! To hell with anybody who wants to tell me what to write. Their society breaks down into subsections of minorities who then, in effect, burn books by banning them. All this political correctness that's rampant on campuses is b.s.

Seriously though, what is the point of making fun of new members of the community...  They help keep it alive.  Everyone was a noob once.

It's good fun and shouldn't hurt nothin. The fact we were all noobs once just makes it all the more relatable. I remember my days of searching to find out what the best switch was (as if those guides meant anything at all) and when I couldn't fathom why someone wouldn't want the numpad.

That being said,

Is it ok that I like mx blues for gaming? I heard they're a typing switch but I like gaming on them better than on my blacks. Is that fine or should I stop?

mondolin crystals?  I hear these are only 4 in the world and you have 7?! I would like to buy them all for my private keyboard island collection.

P.S. got my first mech QFR with browns.  They aren't silent.  Maybe B/S will be better?  Hoping mandolin crystal is the best!

...and from the heavens ZEUS gave us the ergo-docks!

Anything else is not Greek pantheon approved, and since I'm Asian I only believe in Greek gods/myths as they explain ergonomics perfectly.

PING!
Yes?

Noob: Will using a backlit keyboard make me type faster?

EDIT: I'm going to do that every time someone mentions ping in a way that doesn't make it blatantly obvious what they're talking about.

For example:
Quote
For some reason, there's so much ping on my A key.
There's enough of me to go around!

Noob: Will using a backlit keyboard make me type faster?

if you're a hunt n pecker,  and you're in the dark... then Yes it will... :D

And since we can assume someone who'd ask that question must not be very proficient at keyboarding.

*SUDDENLY lysol enters the thread answering all 1734 noob posts

combo breaker!

Why do people keep posting keyboards that are so small?

My g19 has more color options and buttons.  Lamers.

I googled. It is, apparently, the one that can custom program LED colours!

I don't know why you buy a g19 when you could get a razer deathstalker ultimate.

The Blackwidow is the cheaper version. Not as good because it doesn't cost as much.
