taeja's mechanics are frightening
Indeed as much as I hate Terran this TaeJa kid is unbelievable, gratz to him well deserved!

If your watching him control his army his micro isn't perfect but it's pretty ****ing good... But then he constantaly has no money because his macro never stops, it's insane.

This MMR decay is just ridiculous.

This is Blizzard's official reply to the current state of the ladder for those interested:

http://us.battle.net/sc2/en/forum/topic/10490649577?page=9#171

As always they actually don't say anything but at least they are aware of the problem...

yeah, its retarded.... in my gold league last time I checked the top 8, bar me are all ex masters players with 50+ games with w/l's of like 2:1 to 4:0... it's so ****ing dumb.... I've no idea what my MMR is but it's apparently good enough to demote a dia with 70% w/l on season and a plat with 88% w/l...

atm I'm barely breaking even becasue the skill level is so all over the place there isn't any meta so it's just any total random garbage goes and you just gotta hope you don't get randomly blind countered.... that sounds odd but before they started ****ing with it, each league had its own meta and type off playing each race and when you got promoted the types of games would totally change...

Well, if you execute the Master/GM builds well enough you can't get blind countered because those builds have an adaptation for everything.

For me the matchmaking is still intact because there is no such thing as inactive GM/high Master players who could stomp me. All the players I face are (former) Masters and the matches are really tight. As it should be. Right now I am Top8 Dia with a ~55% winrate and hope to get back into Masters. It's just harder than before, which is actually a nice challenge.

But I can see how the MMR decay affects people in lower leagues because they face better people more often now. I am curious what Blizzard intends to do about it. I think there should be a max decay so master people can only face diamond people etc.

The only thing I like about the decay is that there are no more "1 game per season" Master Players who achieved their MMR right after release when it was way easier.

Yeah, I still remember that :D

So you are basically playing freestyle and don't mimic Pro builds? This may be why you are getting blind countered due to "different" meta.

I mean I have standard builds, that served me well vs dia and masters in the past

PvP 2-3 gate into stargate unless I scout nexus 1st
PvT gateway expand into robo and then fast Templar turtle and LOOOL
PvZ expand (Forge or Gate) into stargate and then coli

Maybe blind countered isn't the right way of putting it, it's more that sometimes someone will do something totally random that makes no sense but you missed an ff or misclicked and lol your dead... PvZ is pretty brutal in this regard (I find) like miss a few FF's due to some random attack and you loose your 3rd

Ah I see what you mean. Yeah Protoss in general is very unforgiving in that regard. I don't know how often I have lost PvZs because I missed a single forcefield in the early game or my zealot wasn't on hold position for some reason and a couple of lings slip through and scout my whole base

ohh my ****ing god playing masters players is SO MUCH MORE ENJOYABLE!! Loosing games not becasue you ****ed up an FF or missed a storm and just becasue you got out played or out macro'd is so much more enjoyable! being suck in the ****ty leagues for so long made me forget the joy of someone picking apart your weaknesses and giving you something to build and work on!   ...and then winning is so much better! :D

hey i like my bronze league thank you very much
i should upload a replay of mine where i had my bro playing my account, he hasn't played since HOTS released.
He was just doing some silly build when he was attacked by a cloaked banshee so he was just like "whelp, i lost my army so i guess i gotta expand to the other side of the map"
he just kept expanding and taking bases, after like 30 mins he had like 18 gateways and almost 3/4 of the map controlled, while the opponent was stuck with his main/natural/third and maybe 4th?  Anyway he was like "yeah only in bronze league can I get away with this"

hahahaha
I had a bronze account and played a PvT were I didn't make any attacking units for the entire game and only made workers. I filled the entire map with cannons and mined every single base bar his main and natural, all the money I spent on workers of which I had 200 and by the 25-30 min mark i think i mined out every single patch on the map and all the gas... i then tried to long distance mine his natural, lost all my workers and then he worked his way across the map with 3 BC's lmao... I had like 60k gas and zero minerals as I just kept making workers...

...was pretty silly

Back then, we had a tournment :-) that was streamed with a camo filco as prize... provided by our friends at KeyboardCo....

Good times. Maybe we should get a mini tourney up? It was fun even though we were all at different levels.
